Stunningly beautiful rock formations along the road
Mar 2020
We were on a small group tour from Cachi to Cafayate. The journey along the dusty winding road with the even changing mountain scenery was quite spectacular. When we came across the Natural Park where the eroded cliffs resembled arrow heads, we were out of the small bus in an instance to take in the stunning views of the area. This area is not easy to describe as it was so different to anywhere else.

Well worth the trip. I recommend a tour as the roads are not easy to navigate.

The road is very poor
May 2019 • Couples
After reading that Angastaco is the place to go and will soon be destroyed by tourists (lonely planet) we took the horrible unpaved route from Cafayate. After nearly destroying our car we arrived to a dead village with nothing open and nothing of interest. There was a view point outside the city that was pretty and reminded us of Turkish cappadocia but it wasn’t worth the horrible drive. Stick to the other side of Cafayate where the roads are better and views just as good! I wish someone had told us this and written this before we left. Biggest waste of time.

Another Spectacular drive in Salta Province
Apr 2019 • Couples
Drove from Cafayate to Molinos then through Cachi, the National Park and back to Salta. Absolutely spectacular scenery the entire way. It kept changing from one amazing landscape to another. I have never taken so many pictures, well worth the time - pack a lunch and go!

A very stark landscape of photographic formations
Dec 2018 • Couples
The drive through this area was amazing and the erosion of the cliffs does resemble arrows shooting skywards. It's very dry and hot but if you get the chance along the way there are little viewpoints and short walks to take in the formations against the clear blue skies.

One of the Many Amazing Things to See on Ruta 40
Mar 2019 • Couples
The drive along Ruta 40 is full of amazing landscape and in this part there are eroded cliffs with overlapping layers of strata resembling arrows and thus the name of this area. The name translates to Canyon of the Arrows. It is a Natural Monument. The road is dirt in this area and the ride thru it is an adventure. It’s on the way between Cafayate and towns further north.

Spectacular rock formations

A bit reminiscent of the Badlands in South Dakota, but more varied and more photogenic.

Very scenic road with plenty of picture taking. Not always pleasant to go for a walk because of potential extreme heat and sun.

I've only see it through the bus window, however it was gorgeous! It's quite long, would be better with a private car

It will take you awhile to get through this area as you’ll be stopping very frequently for photographs. This area was the bottom of a lake thousands of years ago. The settling of all the matter in the lake caused the formation of the incredible rock formations. Don’t miss this on your tour through Salta area!

Breathtaking colourful landscape

I had read about Quebrada de las Flechas before our visit to the Salta area but with so much to see wasn't high on list. However it turned out to be one of the most fantastic of the many scenic wonders of the area. It isn't a tourist attraction and there is nothing to do except just revel in the colourful landscape.
