- JohnFlorida124 contributionsAmazing sand, Amazing water.Wonderful empty beach on the French side. The beach is beautiful, and the water is amazing. There are very few beach goers as the parking lot is small. Bring your own food, beach chairs, and beverages as there are no facilities at this beach. Clothing optional/nude section is about 400 yards to the left of the entrance. Great place to get a seamless tan if one desire. The beach is very long and great to walk. As you head left from the entrance the beach is lined with several villas. We were fortunate that for this trip we were in one of the villas with direct access to the sand off our expansive deck. The only downside, and it just me being picky, is the beach by the water is lined with large rocks, but there are areas with openings, so you have direct access into the amazing water. One of the best beaches on the island. Definitely worth the visit.Visited November 2022Written December 8, 2022
- Sonia1 contributionA Safety on Your Own beach. It’s beautiful but not good for kids or fun water playing. We stared at the unpredictable waves and lied in beach for 1.5 hours . Saw families came and left quickly. It’s hard to find the entrance via GPS. There is an open gate entrance that you would easily miss. We had to ask a local nice guy.Visited December 2022Traveled with familyWritten December 22, 2022
- Sandra S20 contributionsNice beachIt is on the french side, fairly secluded so expect topless and some nude bathing if you have children. Parking is tough very small area to park. Beautiful beach to just chill. We brought our own chairs and lunch as there is no venders there or restaurants.Visited June 2022Written February 8, 2023
- Mike_and_PinaMontreal, Canada114 contributionsBeautiful, Peaceful & RusticWe love Baie Rouge Beach. It is rustic, clean & peaceful with beautiful surroundings. There are no services or restaurants on this beach. Access is a little tricky as you must enter through a gate that states it is private however you do have access to the beach as you do to all the public beaches of St. Martin & Sint Maarten. Be wary of the access road & parking area as it is quite rough with deep grooves in the ground where a car can easily be damaged. You may find families gathered near the entrance to the beach at the foot of the colourful stairs enjoying the wide spaces & clear waters. Some couples gather a little further South along the beach, never crowded. Further still you will come upon nude bathers enjoying the sun & surf. Something for everyone. Enjoy safely.Visited January 2023Written February 11, 2023
- Jessica OBoston, Massachusetts493 contributionsBaie Rouge Nude Beach on Saint MartinBaie Rouge Beach is about 30 minutes by car from the Orient Beach area where my husband and I stayed. The trip requires going through Marigot, the largest city on the French side of the island. Google Maps will direct you to the gate on the short road that leads to the dirt parking lot that holds about 50 cars. The beach is down a staircase on the right side of the lot. People generally wear swimsuits on the first 100 yards or so of the beach. Beyond that point nudity is the norm, although some people do wear swimsuits. There is no snack bar. There are no umbrellas or lounge chairs for rent. There are some homes and resorts along the one mile+ long beach, but they are sparsely occupied or still not rebuilt after hurricane Irma in 2017. Hence, hardly anyone is on the beach beyond about 200 yards from the entrance. My husband and I (in our mid-thirties) had purchased an umbrella at the Ace Mega Center in the Cole Bay area on the Dutch side of the island, and we brought sufficient liquids and food to meet our needs. Beach equipment at Ace is on the second floor, and prices are listed in US dollars. The price of the umbrella that we bought (Rio Beach 6.5' UPF 50+ Beach Umbrella with Built-in Sand Anchor) was actually a few cents less than the same model on Amazon for delivery in the US. The sand was deep and soft. The water was warm, clear, and seaweed-free. The breeze was pleasant. There is ledge/lava along the shoreline, so care is advisable when selecting a spot to enter the water. The beach is so huge and the parking lot so limited that we felt as though we had the beach all to ourselves on each of the three days that we were there. There is no place to hide on the beach, but by setting up near the bushes at the edge of the sand and positioning our umbrella as a visual barrier, we were able to enjoy the pleasures of each other’s company to the max. If you like peace and calm, beautiful scenery, no worries and no clothes, Baie Rouge Beach will fill the bill.Visited February 2023Written March 19, 2023

This beach is not kid friendly and has quite an undertow (at least when we went). There is a warning sign right at the parking lot, to swim at your own risk. But it was a fun stop to just check out the beach. It has a cool arch/stairway/wall art. The sand is supposed to have a pink colour, but it's super subtle.

Our favourite beach in Saint Martin & Sint Maarten. Baie Rouge is one of the largest, longest, and sandiest beaches on the island. On the horizon is an excellent view of Anguilla. The sunset is okay with the sun setting over Terre Basses.
The BEST THING about Baie Rouge is that it has a very local feel to it! We have been dozens of times and unlike Mullet Bay, Simpson Bay, Orient Bay there are no businesses trying to sell you chairs or people trying to push merchandise on you. Bring your own beach gear and your own drinks and enjoy the blissful peace.
Check out bordersology.com for our "Ultimate Visitors Guide To Sint Maarten and Saint Martin" where we break down the best beaches and sunset spots we have experienced while living on the island.

The colors, the art, the water, the sand, the sun, the atmosphere, and the people are absolutely beautiful. This is a must-see in Sint Maarten.

Our Sint Maarten vacation did not let our memories down. The whole two weeks were spectacular. Mullet Bay is still out favorite beach. Just wonderful people there and the most gorgeous beach scene. The villa at Nettle Baie was incredible and we spent several days there just sunning on our own beach by the Caribbean Sea. We cooked most of our meals with groceries from the Maho Market. We absolutely adore Saint Martin /Sint Maarten and would recommend it to anyone who loves the beach and the Caribbean. Have a blast.

A quiet beach that reminds me a French beach settings in my books! The artwork entering the beach was colorful and a vibrant welcome. The water was calm and there were not many people on the beach.

My wife and I are visit SMX in late June, and we are planning the beaches we want to visit? Is the entire beach clothing optional or is it necessary to hide away in one of the coves to go nude? Also, can we rent chairs and an umbrella? And can we get food and drinks at the beach?
Go to orient beach!
They have a nude side , and bunch of shops , restaurants and rentals

Driving directions from Marigot please.

From Marigot you cross the bridge which is at Sandy-Ground and keep driving through Baie-Nettlé Bay. After you have passed the cluster of hotels the road will go up a bit of an incline and then take a sharp turn to the left.Do not turn since at the turn, straight ahead of you is the parking lot for Baie Rouge.

Hi We have been to this beach many times of the years and the sand seams to come and go did the hurricane last year damage the beach much with loss of sand.
Thanks

David was just on Baie Rouge and happy to say beautiful as ever. Like all beaches waves are bigger some days than others so not sure why some complain about rough seas unless they are used to fla gulf beaches. Raymond, cliffs, beach, all still great as usual
