Visited here on our two week tour of Denmark with family and a friend. Would have enjoyed the cobblestone walk to the ruin more if it hadn't been raining. Enjoyed climbing up and down the ruin.

And old history from the vikings.
This old castle or ruin is very amazing and a very good trip for all kind of people - you will feel the battle from many years of war in Denmark - especially the war going back centuries when the Sweden and Denmark was in the battle.

Easy to get there by car from Aarhu so well worth to visit. A bit long but not difficult walk from the car park to the castle ruins but very scenic. The walls and the tower are well preserved and from the top of tower the gift is the nice view to the bay. Something You shoud do if You are in Aarhus.

Beautiful site. Enjoyable walk out from (free) car park over the cobbled dam. Amazing views all around. Good info available at the ruin & really well-considered addition of stairs & viewing platforms within the ruin itself.

Kalø is always worth a visit. Try to take the tour around the island on the beach and finalise it with a big ice cream.

This place is worth to visit. If you are around - it is a good place to stop by and take a walk to castle ruins up on the hill. Perfect for nature lovers.

This impressive castle ruin needs to be appreciated from close up
The walk along the causeway is challenging from how the old road was made so long ago. Good shoes a must!
Lovely cattle grazing in the headland and saw a seal too. Big impressive building
Only crazy bit was that most of the parking is across a busy road on a bend with no safe way to cross! An accident waiting to happen.

There's a bit of a walk out to the castle ruins and walking on cobble stones is not easy, but it is well worth the walk. There's not much left of the actual castle, but there are stairs inside and the view from the top are very nice. Near the car park there's a an ice cream kiosk, a restaurant and toilets, but the castle itself has no facilities so use the toilets first and bring everything you need.

Nice walk across the causway, but the uneven stones can be bit tricky. Best way is to walk on the grassy patch along the beach. one also needs to cross a sand patch, soft but sharp. Sandals are not very suitale. Woodlands are worth a visit as well. Ample parking, good fascilities and bit of information concerning local history. Perfect for sunday outing.
