The entrance is Euro15 p.p but the lady neglects to say the Orangerie and its garden are inaccessible - in fact all the best parts are. Whats left is not much - the atmosphere is depressing and a reminder of the 1970s. The house is quite interesting but no attempt is made to explain its historical context. Neglect and no-investment are the order of the day. The gardens are OK - forests and trees not flowers, stagnant ponds, decaying statues. Was happy to leave - the village is also best avoided. Distinct lack of imagination. One of my worst chateau visits

Such a shame for the management of this Château not not to take measurements in further preserving the interiors and exteriors of this heritage. Instead of admiration and having breathtaking experiences I almost cried when saw the state all the paintings are in. Library seems to be the only ok place in comparison with other rooms.
The restoration of almost everything to its proper condition is so much needed at this place!

Castle is in urgent need of a renovation. Paint on the windows and shutters peels of.
Not that interesting inside.
Garden could also do with a ligtle TLC. Only grass -no flowers - no decent pathways.
In all not worth the money.

The Château website provides visiting hours and prices but it is closed “permanently” according to Google Maps and “forever” according to staff at the gate. And, you can’t see much from the road. Don’t waste your time.

While visiting my daughter in Belgium, she suggested we go to visit this chateau near her home. The tapestries were lovely, the grounds spatial and well kept ; and I’m sure it is a wonderful wedding venue. The building itself and lake statuary are in need of renovation as shutters are peeling paint, walls cracked and lake statuary is starting to crumble. That being said it was a very pretty place to spend a sunny Belgian afternoon. You can’t walk on the grounds unless you pay the 12 euro ( 10 senior) admission fee that also allows house access.

Fortunately, entry was free due to the "Journées du Patrimoine Wallon". Unfortunately, guided visits were fully booked on Sunday but we could walk around the castle and the park.
On the positive side, the castle's architecture, the immediate surroundings and the furnishings are well worth the visit. There are a few beautiful tapestries and many portraits of nobility and of monarchs. The library is impressive with its display of old book bindings.
Compared to properly maintained castles in France, Flanders and Holland, unfortunately several sections are falling to pieces, notably the group sculpture of Neptune on the other side of the pond, the top windows and part of the bridge to the main entrance. On the upper floor in the castle someone had the strange idea of displaying modern Romanian art (handbags and theater dresses) that were completely out of place and prevented viewing the furniture. Except for the ground floor "salon" the place felt decrepit. Too bad.

I love castles and gardens. This place was the main attraction of our one month stay in Belgium but I am disappointed. Exposition style was old fashioned, combination with modern, but badly kept, fashion items (dresses and bags). The garden was big and relaxing, no flower, there was loud funk music from a van of the staff.

All the guides say open in April on Sundays - but when we turned up - closed - no details as to why or when it would be open again. From the outside the payment kiosks, car park etc seemed disorganised and run down.

Due to the very hot weather and the fact that we were traveling with a stroller, we decided only to visit the gardens of the castle. However, with great sounding names as 'the rose garden', the garden seems to have lost some of its glory. The only flowers we saw were some flowering weeds. The ponds were dirty (but that's maybe because of the long drought) and hedges needed a cut. Some parts however were well maintained, but it seems they just need a lot more gardeners (or budget). However we had a great time for a few hours and give it 3 stars.

Bonjour,
