The natural pool was the best.
Jan 2020 • Family
The “natural pool” was the best. Don’t hesitate to swim in there. Good attention from the guides and beautiful view.

Lovely private beach
Feb 2020
We were here as part of a privat tour and came via boat thru the mangroves. To be truth - the boat trip was really quite short. Don’t believe the price of 2000 DPesos per boat. There were 12 of us and we were charged 700 pesos each. VERY overpriced.
Our guide brought us here to a local restaurant. We were offered fish and Caribbean lobster. The fish was priced at 400 pesos per pound and we were told (not weighted ) that the fish was 1 1/2 lbs. We were offered parrot fish or red snapper at the same price. The fish was fried - there was no other option. It was quite good , we also had rice, cabbage salad, fried potato and plantain included in the price. The beach was wonderful - the boat took our shoes - not sure why as everyone else had some.. The vendors were upon us - but really not very intrusive
Would recommend the beach & food - but try to arrange your own, rather than the guides choice.

Sep 2019
Laguna Grigri is located in the municipality of Rio San Juan, Province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez,, the name grigri comes from a local tree called the same, it used to be a small lagoon linked to the shore of the atlantic ocean, the placed is visited for many tourist from many countries, in 1958 due to an earthquake, it became a an attractive place liked to nature, very peaceful. If you love bird watching, there is the place, and many marine life also, excursion by boat is available of about 30 minutes, and best of all is that you can jump in the water and enjoy your day

Smooth sailing among the beautiful mangroves and swallows
Jul 2019
Walked to this location and hired a boat and driver for $30US for a few hours. It was just the three of us (including 4 yr old). The driver spoke in Spanish which was not a prob since we did too and he pointed all the sights along the way. We didn't bring our swimsuits so we didn't go swimming but there was an option to do so. Loved the beautiful mangroves and went into a cave with swallows. The only thing is it was a hot day so glad we wore hats as the ride is out in the ocean where there is no shade.

Opted to do this boat trip rather that the one in the Parque National Haitien and it didn't dissapoint. We were happy to get a private boat trip and would suggest anyone to do this boat trip, esp those with young children.

Lovely boat trip
Jul 2019 • Family
Visited with small children and they enjoyed the standard boat trip they offer in the place. The price is standard, 2,000 pesos, but make sure you tell them upfront you want to spend the whole day or how many hours you want to spend swimming in the natural pool and in the Caleton beach, since the "captain" of the boat may try to shorten your trip.

But this something highly recommended to do, if you happen to be in the area,

A beautiful entrance ( or exit) to different points for dive or even to rest ..
surrounded by Gri Gri trees , this lagoon is connected with the sea in a pretty passage to other worlds..

Lagoon trip
Jun 2019 • Couples
Had a great time on this trip. Visited the town of Río San Juan, Grigri Lagoon, Caleton beach 🏖 & Playa Grande. Booked this trip through Sonny with Coming2 trips. He explained the diff trip options & what was included - settled on the Grigri Lagoon.
Got some good info on the town, history & inhabitants of the lagoon. Boating on the open water to the cave, open water dive, “snorkeling” at Caleton beach. We stayed close to the shore and not much sealife to see at Caleton beach. Very picturesque and calm water. Lots of people trying to sell you things. Have money or a polite “no” at the ready.

Finally lunch on the beach at Playa Grande, it was delicious- included fresh caught lobster. Beautiful beach, pretty tough surf- not for little kids (in my opinion). Took great pictures and the water was beautiful, warm & strong.

Lots of dogs on this beach, sand fleas were an issue there.

All in all a great day of exploration and experience. There was a photographer on my trip, she was great & the pics were worth it!!

A lovely little jaunt
May 2019 • Family
We went as a party of 6 (three teens, three adults) and had a covered boat to ourselves. It was a fixed price (2000 pesos - $40) for the whole experience. The boat ride was about 25 minutes, we got out to swim for about 15 minutes and then we came back. We went through the lagoon, out to the bay, checked out a cave and then went to a beach area for swimming. It was a nice little experience. Nothing high impact but still a nice experience. If you don't have a covered boat you'll want some sun protection. There are no showers to rinse off so plan ahead to be sticky from salt water after you dry off.

Cute place
Apr 2019 • Friends
Very cute little area to visit. We took the boat ride up the river which was nice but not all that exciting. Went as part of a day excursion but was my least favourite part of the trip.
