Fantastic views from here and it's well with a visit. It's absolutely deserted and that adds to the experience. It's a bit of a hike but well worth it for the views. A must visit when in Spitz

We were so glad we visited this castle. After a little bit of being lost, we parked at the nearby museum (Schifffahrtsmuseum Spitz) and walked up the path/very narrow road. It was a pleasant walk and didn't take longer than 10 minutes. We spent around...More

The castle was in great condition with a sweet stairwell and viewing point from the top. We had a great experience there and highly recommend it!

Well worth the climb to the top but not suitable for all .The path can be slippery and difficult .The view from the top is a step back in time and gives an appreciation of the the size of the Danube

A relatively strenuous but short climb to breathtaking vistas of the Danube and the small towns on it's banks.

On our cruise from Melk to Krems, seeing the Hinterhause Castle perched high above the river was certainly one of the highlights. If I ever had the chance to make a stop in Spitz, that is definitely the one place I would go - it...More

Very nice ruin with a little bit worse access path but do not get discouraged by that. The entry is free of charge and the outlook from the tower is gorgeous.
