In recent years the company developed into a very successful german and english speaking Yukon tour operator and outfitter. In 2008 and 2009 Yukon Wide Adventures was awarded the “Yukon Tourism Award of Excellence, Marketing Innovation Award”. YWA received this Award from the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon for the outstanding and creative work in serving tourism. Already in 2007 Yukon Wide Adventures was approved by National Geographic to be listed as one of the “Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth”. We provide year around wilderness outdoor activities. Our services include the planning of individual tours, canoe/kayak- and equipment rentals, all transportations, motorhome and camper rentals as well as accommodation in our Log Cabin. Do not hire from this company. The owner Thomas is obnoxious and aggressive. Once you have paid your money, you are nothing but an inconvenience.

This is a double review from a frustrated guest (I commented on the other review) who try to blame her incompetence on us, where ever she can. The attack on my person being obnoxious and aggressive is ridiculous, has nothing to do with your experience and should be forbidden to publish by TripAdvisor!
If you do not have the experience, no information on current conditions and don't want to listen to us, please don't do a self guided trip in the remote Yukon Wilderness.
Safety is our main priority! But if you know better, do not blame us, if something goes wrong with your trip!
However, it is good to see, that travelers nowadays understand, that the quality of reviews on TripAdvisor is questionable.

We were a party of 7 who did the "Fly & Enjoy" 6-day canoe trip down the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Carmacks. It was an unforgettable, magical experience in the remote wilderness, miles from nowhere. The float plane flights were an added excitement. Thomas was an excellent, efficient guide - being an authority on the Yukon River and on local history. We felt very safe in his hands even though the water level was exceptionally high. The camp sites were amazing. One offered viewing of a grizzly bear on the opposite bank which we watched for several hours. All the equipment was in first class condition, and Thomas's bush cooking was superb. We saw several bears but sadly no moose - only the mosquitos were a challenge. Thank you, Thomas!

The Owner highly recommended and sold a paddle tour to us which sent us into higher water. This was not due to sudden rain falls. Other operators refused renting boats even 2 days before our start. We felt unsecure and left the river even with more than 10.000 km paddling experience partially in light white water. A refund was refused afterwards. Safety first is definatelly not a major guideline of that company.

You contacted us 2 days prior to your arrival in the Yukon with the most strange inquiry: "We only come with the 23.50 h machine on 8.6. on. Since we've seen Whitehorse 4 times and the hotels there are very expensive, we really don't want to stay there. We actually only need a 15-minute stop at a supermarket to stock up for the 4-5 days until we can paddle past Whitehorse again. Would then like to camp in Carcross at the old steamer. This is of course well after normal working hours, but I got the impression that you northerners sometimes like to stay up late in the summer.....". Come on, a shuttle at 1:00 am - are you for real ?
We explained the high water situation and ask about your experience. You said and I quote: I paddled 10000 km and we have been on the river several times - we are experienced, no problem!
BTW. We have been on the Yukon River with several guided trips at this time and had no problems.
You totally overestimated your experience and tried to blame it on us, And in presents of your wife you didn't want to admit that the water level was to much of a challenge for you.
I'm very sorry, but we can not refund for something, you me messed up yourself. We tried to help and accommodate you where ever we could. But you wanted to have everything so cheap. And on top a refund!
Just for the record: We never highly recommended and sold a tour. You booked everything last minute, try to have it as cheap as possible.
Compared to the 3 other big rental companies in the Yukon, we had no incident this summer season. We take care of our customers and ask about their experience. Safety first is our main priority. Our advise is much appreciated by most of our guest. There is just always the 1 percent who knows better, correct Roman !

We had a great day participating in a half day snowmobile tour with Yukon Wide. Thomas picked us up at our hotel, geared up a couple of people who needed enhanced clothings for the experience and took off to the starting point. He has fairly new equipment which he maintains daily. He explained how to use the machine, he discussed our path, and then we took off into the powdery winter landscape. We took a wide track trail, then went up a mountain, to enjoy the view. The trail ranged from flat and wide (10m), to a minor slope and a bit tighter (4m). It was a great trail for beginners and a fun way to get a different perspective of the Whitehorse area.

We had an awesome snowmobile adventure. They made sure we were properly outfitted and then took us up a mountain to an incredible view. Would definitely recommend to others. I had no snowmobiling experience going in and felt comfortable on the tour.

I rented a snowmobile with the guy, and yes the snowmobile was in great condition but no wonder... after we brought it back and we took extra care of it, he charged me 300$ for a broken clip on a side panel... I am almost positive we didn't break it.. but anyways you are warned the guy is a shark and will try to find anything to charge you extra after your rental. I will never deal with this guy again.

WE explained the machine and especially how to open the side panel to refill oil. Everything on the machine was in excellent conditions, without any damage.
However the machine was returned with a broken off part/clip on the side panel which needs to be replaced.
Everything is always good until something was damaged and the customer has to pay for it.
We called the customer and didn't get a respond, so we charged for the broken side panel !
You break or damage it, sorry, you have to pay for it.
Customers who do not appreciate our service and do not respect our property are not welcome.
Things can always happen and the renter is in charge.
Blaming us her on Trip Advisor instead of calling us is ridicules. Hiding behind your computer and shouting out on social media is very poor, but seems to be how people deal nowadays.
Our customers are entitled to get the best equipment, as you appreciated as well. WE are not sharks, just making sure our equipment stays in best conditions !!!!

We dropped into Yukon Wide Adventures to see what activities were available while we were in town. We were lucky enough to be able to join a half-day snowmobiling tour and we are so glad that we had this opportunity.
After making sure that we were kitted out in clothing suitable for the weather, Thomas showed us how to use the snowmobiles and off we went on a breathtaking trail through snow-covered forests, climbing to take in a view of the surrounding area. The views throughout were simply awe-inspiring! Thomas was such a fantastic tour leader, and we learnt so much about the area and how to explore it safely.
If you are thinking about booking a tour, don’t hesitate, you won’t regret it!

My husband and I were able to squeeze into a snow mobiling tour with Thomas and Kelly last minute. Kelly was so sweet and Thomas was a fantastic guide.
We were suited up to keep us warm and then off we went through to woods to some of the most amazing winter sights I had ever seen.
I highly recommend this tour and this company. Bring good clothing....goggles and a face mask/cover to keep your face warm from the snow and wind.

Fortunately managed to take advantage of this rare guided hike offering, and it was so worthwhile. A short helicopter ride from the airport and we were on Grey Mountain. Over the next four hours we hiked along the ridge and were picked up in the company truck at the other end for the ride back to town. The views were spectacular and the hike itself offered a great range of terrain, landscape, vegetation and views. Some sections were moderately difficult but so worthwhile. Our guide, Max was awesome. We did come across (at a distance) a bear that was in our line of travel, but our guide expertly guided us through an alternative route so as to respect the bear. All in all it was a great guided hike that I would highly recommend.

We had a blast ripping through the mountains with Thomas as our guide!
He took us to locations which gave us the best views - and offered us the opportunity to let off some steam on the trails!
The equipment was in excellent condition and we always felt safe with our guide
Pick up and drop off directly from our local hotel.
Definitely the highlight of our time in Whitehorse!

Hello Silvia,
thank you very much for your inquiry. Unfortunately we are not the right place to inquire, since we only offer active adventure tours which are not suitable for Walkers. I'm very sorry.
