We have been here on a couple of our Québec trips and always look forward to exploring the deep recesses of this epicerie that takes one back in time to the days of general stores run by families, not massive faceless corporations. We usually leave...More

My receipt identified the store as " Maison Jean Alfred Moisan," so I posted my review under that name. It is the same shop. After you decide how many grams of Prosciutto for the clerk to slice from the Italian hunk of meat, order twice...More

As well as being a unique grocery store this is also a fantastic bed and breakfast! The rooms were small but comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. The owner was also very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend.

I could have stayed here forever. So much variety. Spices, herbs, teas, coffee, mustards, olives, candy, chocolate, etc. If you like to cook and like to make or try new things this is your place. I was in the city for 4 days and I...More

This is a must-stop if you’re in the area! The variety and quality of their products is awesome. They seemed to have something of everything. There were beautiful cheeses, teas, coffees, maple products, spices (including saffron behind the counter), mustards, preserves, meats, crackers, cookies and...More

This epicerie is a must go in Quebec City. We had a very good French-style breakfast while being surrounded by history. The establishment is there sine 1871 and the original style is still well preserved. Besides, the epicerie sells a great variety of good-quality (local...More

Thoroughly enjoyed stopping in as we walked thru old Quebec City. This part of town felt more genuine as compared to the area immediately surrounding the Frontenac. Charming from the outside and a gourmet grocer inside. A unique place to visit. We didn't buy anything...More

This grocery store was bigger on the inside than it looked from the outside. The inside had the old brick walls showing in places. There were a good amount of items in this store. A spice room like I have never seen! Just a cool...More

Bonjour. I will be returning to Quebec City in two weeks to do a self-tour (walking tour) both within the fortification walls and outside of them. I love the St-Jean-Baptiste quartier -- which is how I stumbled upon your wonderful epicerie: J.A. Moisan. For this coming trip, I would like to spend more time in your store browsing so that I don't feel rushed and leave with only the purchase of a tote bag. I love preserves, wine, cheese and nuts. So ... May I ask your hours during the week, as I will be arriving late at night on a Sunday and then planning to walk distances beginning on Monday morning? I am hoping that your store is open early in case it closes by 6 p.m., at which time I'll be having supper in town or at the hotel (one hotel in la Basse-Ville, the other hotel in l'Haute-Ville). I will be in Quebec City for five full days, so this time I don't want to miss the chance to purchase some delicious foods and wine from your epicerie. And I just might buy another J.A. Moisan tote bag, as I have worn out the one that I purchased in 2015. Thank you for your time, and I am looking forward to reading your reply as well as the responses of past visitors. I think that there is time for me to receive replies before my trip begins. Merci encore. (Or is it "Encore merci.")
