    The Oldest Square in Town
One of the historic centers in the Lower Town. Here you will find some of the city's oldest colonial buildings, nicely preserves. It's an open square so a good stage for photos. And a cool museum here as well. Food nearby.

    A walking history lesson
There is so much to see in Place Royale. Just past Quartier Petit Champlain you will find a walking history lesson waiting for you. Careful of the cobblestones streets, so make sure to wear comfy walking shoes. Make sure to have your camera ready to go as you are about to go back in time.

    Something for Everyone
Booked this hotel for a girls getaway at the end of July. Very close to everything in Old Québec. Staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel offers something for every kind of traveller, whether it be for family, romance, friends, or relaxation. I loved the fact that some rooms offer a Murphy bed, as opposed to pullout sofa for a second bed. Not only did this give us each a proper queen sized mattress, it also gave us each our own sleeping quarters. The mattresses were lovely to sleep on. I think I liked it better than my own bed! The bathroom was spacious with fluffy towels. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub with the garden features. Place Royale has plenty of ambience and charm. I would definitely stay here again..

    Lovely public square
Place Royale is a lovely public square in Old Quebec. Being close to the harbour it was a busy commercial place in the old days. This square apparently lays claim to being the birthplace of French Canada. Even a bust of Louis XIV stands in the middle of the square. The area is a pleasure to visit.

    Historic and romantic
Place Royale specifically is a square with cobbled streets located just off the small road that leads to the funicular, if you want to go to the Upper town: funicular costs 5 CAD one way per person. This square is full of history, romantic, no wonder is packed with people in the several restaurants in this area, if you come here on a warm day. Just gorgeous

    Place Royale, Quebec
A pictoresque, historic, cobblestone little square. Here Samuel de Champlain founded New France in 1608. There are many beautiful historic buildings around including Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, the oldest church in North America.

Spend some time here, let it make you smile
When we walked into the Place, the first words out of my wife's mouth were, "this is SO PRETTY!" This from a woman who's been to Paris (twice!), Rome, and Rio de Janeiro. The colonial buildings around it are close to you, but they don't push in on you; they just add elegance to the scene. It's small, not grand like Piazza Navonna, but it's one of those small spaces that glamorizes easily. When we went, the Place was done up for the Holidays; but I see in Google Images that they do it up for spring and summer, too. Add some tables and umbrellas in the summer, and suddenly it's the French cafe culture. You could spend fifteen minutes here or an hour. Either way you'll enjoy the time, and the thing is: tomorrow you'll remember it and you'll want to come back.

Surprisingly quiet, maybe because people just pass through on the way to somewhere else.
Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church is at one end and a statue of Louis XIV in the centre.

Do visit if you can. Great stop and history. The kids read up before we went so it was a must stop for us.
