About
This elevated area offers panoramic views of Old Quebec and the St. Lawrence River. Winter adrenalin junkies line up by the thousands at Les Glissades de la Terrasse to experience the rush of zooming downhill from 270 feet high (82 meters) in a toboggan speeding up to 60 mph (90 kilometers per hour) to the bottom 500 feet (152 meters) away. Located on the Dufferin Terrace overlooking the St. Lawrence River behind Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, the ride is open from mid-December through late March.

    Incredible views of the river
We stayed at the Chateau Frontenac and enjoyed walking the terrace. The views overlooking the St. Lawrence and the city of Levi are spectacular. If you park in the lower town make use of the funicular if the walk up to the Upper Town is too strenuous for you

    Spectacular views
Terrasse Dufferin offers some spectacular views. We walked all around this area and spent there the best part of a day. Quebec is a beautiful city and the views of the old city and the river from here are just amazing. While here we also visited the incredibly beautiful Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Not to be missed.

Great place to have a stroll
A great place to relax in the sun or in the shade with great views over the water and the Lower town. You can take the funicular from here (right near the statue, located in the glass house) to reach the Lower town, or you can wall all the way to the Citadel (the entrance is on the opposite site though, if you want to visit it). Lots of information about the origins of the terrace and several musicians to entertain you. A very romantic place, if you like history and it reminds me of so many historic European cities. To one side, there are several hotels, some older than others, with probably bird eye view over this whole location.

    Must visit place
It is amazing place from where you can see Lower town, river or take a ride on funicular or see the Citadel. There are several information panels about the history related to its past and preservation. And it's overlooked by stunning Chateau Frontenac. We walked a couple times through it, enjoying the views, talking to local lady who advised what to see/visit in the city. If you are tired there are plenty benches to sit and have a rest. There is also small cafe/ice cream shop. At the end of it you can find tobogan for winter adrenalin seekers. It's must visit place when in the city.

Beautiful vantage point plus Parks tour of crypt
We ended up here several times and took the paid tour located at the kiosk of the crypt below. Tour guide was very informative. Take the guided tour if you are in the area. Very interesting tour. Beautiful place to take in the views and get some shade under the many gazebos.

Absolutely loved Quebec City at Christmas time! Toboggan slides are a must - $3.00 per rider. Dragging the toboggan up the ramp was a workout but the view from the top was breathtaking. The river was partially iced over and the Chateau looked sensational as we flew down the toboggan run. Loved it!

The elevated terrace offers beautiful views of Old Town Quebec City and the St. Lawrence River. Towards the end of the terrace is an toboggan run that looks like a blast in the winter! Benches line the railing so you can sit, relax and watch the happenings nearby. We enjoyed watching the boat traffic on the St. Lawrence River while we drank our coffee. Sometimes, there were musicians singing and/or playing instruments.

This is the boardwalk to the side of Hotel Frontenac and we were there on a beautiful day as part of a tour of the Old City. Great to view the St Lawrence River and for people watching. The guide did discuss the slide at the end for the winter to slide down onto the snow/ice in the winter. Very enjoyable.

Right in front of the most photographed hotel in the world (Chateau Frontenac), this is a great spot to relax and enjoy the view of the river. The terrace wraps around the hotel, facing the Citadel. You can get here by riding the Funicular cable car, walking directly up the 310 steps of “The Breakneck Stairs”, or walking the longer way around the stairs up near the great huge mural.

Have been here in the summer (delightful) but a whole different fun in wintertime. Sledding is a must! It’s fast but not scary. And for us, big heavy snow flakes just makes it a postcard to winter. Walk up to see the view, enjoy the setting. We stayed at Chateau so it was literally out the backdoor. Brrrrrr very very cold coming off the river for the evening pictures.

Nice walk even in November. Lots to see along the Saint Lawrence River, close to other places to visit in Old Quebec too. Bundle up if you go in the winter time, the wind from the river could be quite fierce

We were there on Boxing Day and this massive place was bustling. We could the ice floating at the sea on one side and the majestic Chateau Frontenac on the other side.

And there was a make shif toboggan available during winter so it's time for some fun sledging if you are into it.

We spent 6 nights over New Years at the Fairmount. The Dufferin Terrasse is conveniently located right outside it’s lower level doors. I spent night after night pushing the stroller out here peacefully to get my toddler to sleep. The views are stunning, the cafe is adorable, the toboggan sled is great for the kids and a thrill to ride. Such a wonderful serene place to enjoy yourself.
