- Michael D7 contributionsWife hated itAlthough my wife hated it because most of the up escalors were under repair, we rode it multiple times. Really fast, clean way to travel all over the area for a reasonalbe cost. Just take a second to read the metro map before dashing off.Visited May 2023Written June 5, 2023
- eskdunningHermitage, Tennessee287 contributionsNo complaintsI suppose it depends. For us, the metro was clean, safe, and provided a convenient way to get around town. I was never alone, so perhaps that provided safety. We were not harassed by panhandle. We grew up in France, so we could read all the signage. The weekend pass gave us access to buses, too. For us, this was the perfect way to get around town.Visited May 2023Traveled with friendsWritten August 2, 2023
- Katie BCharlotte, North Carolina123 contributionsAttractive and easy to use metro and bussesThe Montréal Métro is attractive, clean, and easy to use. We loved the colorful tile designs in each station. We were never crowded in a platform or in a carriage, never felt unsafe at all, and we easily transferred when needed. The only thing for us was not being sure which exit to the streets was best for our destination. Remember the metro ticket includes the bus. The upper seats in the bus have frosted windows so you cannot see the city as you ride, but you can see out from the lower seats, which is a great way to admire Montreal’s neighborhoods.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 6, 2023
- Ripleys_DadEdmonton, Canada20 contributionsSave on a rental car, the metro gets you there.Forget renting a car, parking is a royal pain and paying everywhere with meter maids making regular rounds. If you insist on a car, here's a little hint: Before you march to the pay machine, look at the black pole with the blue code on it on the sidewalk, you need your parking spot number to book parking, saves from walking twice. The metro gets you into every corner of the city with buses allowing for further travels and both run on regular schedules. Prices are reasonable, a 3 day pass for the city is just CAD 21.25 for unlimited travel in zone A.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 30, 2023

Worst metro system, in comparison to any metropolitan city worldwide.
Always manages to stop functioning in the worst weather conditions.
Was stuck waiting for emergency bus services for over 40 minutes during a snowstorm, after metro system stopped working.
And despite all this, they keep raising ticket prices.

Clean stations and never crowded. There are not so many stations as other big cities, but works well. Sometimes you have to wait several minutes during off peak hours.

Fast, efficient, clean.
Great value at $22 for a 3 days pass.
Really surprised that it doesn’t go to the airport, maybe next year we were told ……

If you are in Montreal you should use the Metro. It represents great value and it shows what all Metros in large cities could be like. It is very clean, the stations are large, the trains are frequent and they are a pleasure to ride.

We used Montreal metro extensively during our stay in the city. The trains were quite reliable, on time and clean. Some of the staff were very helpful, while others were not so helpful! We enjoyed using the metro and have no real complaints.

Maybe my expectations were too high. My husband and I bought a 3 day pass, just as we have in large cities all over the world. The Metro Station was filthy. There is very little ventilation and a lot of sweating from fellow passengers. We wasted our pass and used parking meters and walked. The bus drivers were extremely nice... maybe we should have stuck with the bus.

How do I get there using public transport?

If you are staying at a hotel in Montreal, my suggestion would be to go to the front desk or concierge who can give you a map of the Metro system or go online before you leave. The system is colour coded depending on which area of the city you wish to visit. From each station stop, you can pick up specific buses (they are numbered) . Depending on how long you are visiting, you should look at getting a Metro Pass for 24hr, multi-day which gives you access to all public buses and subway trains.
