Even if you can only spare an hour, do not miss the Centre d'Histoire de Montreal. The entry price is reasonable, but most importantly what you learn about the city helps you understand it better.

Really interesting and clear exposition of the city's growth and cultural background. Might sound dry, but certainly made interesting by the personal touches included the displays. The history of the city on the ground floor took up the whole of the hour and a half...More

Small, comprehensive and well laid out. Info given by films, models, wall panels and recordings, in a well integrated way. Nice virtual reality ‘tour’ in their Expo 67 section on the upper floor. Well worth visiting.

Interesting stuff on Montreal's history. They also had a nice exhibit about Expo 67, the cutting-edge international exhibition hosted in Montreal in 1967.

This is not a particularly great site, although only five dollars, three floors, but not worth the bother A lot of info on the Expo must have been big

I may have been expecting too much but I can't recommend visiting this Centre. It has very little more than a very basic history of the city. The entry fee is low, but even so I don't rate it as worth a visit.

The Centre D'Histoire de Montreal is a great place to go before you see the other sights. It gives you a detailed and thorough history of the city, including First Nations, the different settlers in Montreal, the industrial age, etc. The exhibits are detailed enough...More

Full of history on Montreal. We enjoyed visiting this museum (it also gave us respite from the hot sunshine!). We particularly enjoyed the big map at the entrance and trying to locate all the places on it and put them in the right place. The...More
