I chaperoned a school trip and the Grade 7/8 were able to experience the new memorial to reflect on those who lost their lives building the Canals. This was a very moving experience for them. They were given cards to represent the names of the...More

We dropped in to see a ship pass through the canal. Took the opportunity to visit an interesting museum. The ship passing through the lock was of interest due to the lake systems. The museum tied it all together for us.

This museum gives you a very good appreciation for the building of the canals and the local geography that had to be overcome to build the four canals. There are lots of great artifacts and a lot of surprising history about the area.

This is a small yet very informative museum about the military history of St Catherines and the Welland Canal. The highlights are the BIG ships that enter the locks daily and pass on the way to the east or west. Very enjoyable visit and historically...More

Nice stop. They have the museum that shows historical info on the locks being built AND there was a boat there in the lock when we were there and another one due there an hour later. A reasonably priced gift shop. Free admission but donations...More

Visitors to the area always enjoy watching ships transit Lock 3 in St Catharines. Not everyone takes the time to visit the museum right on site. Mistake! You can learn about the history of St Catharines itself, the history of the Welland Canal and, as...More
