It was really interesting to see the opening maneuvers. If u can, I suggest u to rent a boat to sail into the Canal. I love it!

The rideau canal is amazing. In the winter, it is the longest skating rink in the world. In the summer, there are boat tours. One can even boat the entirety of the canal from ottawa to kingston/st Lawrence/1000 islands/ lake ontario. Really neat

We put into the Rideau Canal in several different locations depending on either how we feel that day or what parking is available. Always a restful activity.

Take the time to walk along the canal well worth the time. Perfect to add to your visit to Parliament or the art museum. Stop for a hot dog and a beer in the park

Nice walking area in Ottawa. I would recommend especially in the Summer/Fall months. Lots of people are out and about. Especially fun in the Winter, as the canal freezes over and becomes a skating rink!

The closest parking lot is at city hall and costs the same as street parking, 3$ an hour I think. If you take the right stairs you end up in front of city hall steps away from the canal.
