I was so happy to visit this year when the canal was frozen. Me and my friends had fun walking up and down the area. Unfortunately there weren't any skate rental areas which was disappointing.

Loved walking along the canal and watching the boats get lowered or lifted. Great little tourist attraction all by itself.

Skating and kayaking on the canal are my faves! It's just fun to be on ice as a family, baby in the stroller. Beware of the holes on ice!

I recommend coming to this place in evening when they are closing the canal. There is also a museum across the canal from where you can get lots of information. Every time I visit it, it feels new

We stayed at Cartier place on Cooper near Elgin St. Good value for a centrally located suite type hotel with a reasonable kitchen, sitting area and bedroom. There's a regular supermarket just, just cross Elgin and carry on... More

YES! The trees should just be starting to turn colour, and the weather shouldn't be oppressively hot.
