Didn't know the background story on this production of Shaw's play until reading the program. It was the most interactive play with the audience that I have attended over many years of going to the Shaw Festival. The interaction and involvement with the audience throughout...More

Earlier this season we saw Androcles and the Lion in the Courthouse Theatre, and while the play was enjoyable we did not care much for the venue. The Festival got started here in 1962, and I remember seeing my first festival performance here four years...More

Quite different than we were expecting, so much audience interaction and impromptu by the cast. The stage area is recessed with elevated seats on three sides, lots of stairs even after you get the elevator to the entry level. Good Show, we had a great...More

Androcles and the Lion was a very good show in a very intimate theatre. It was a unique style show. It seemed very contemporary even though it was written decades ago. Audience involvement was a great aspect as well.

When at a Shaw play when it is at the Court House Theatre, you feel like you are part of the play itself since you are so close to the actors. If you are lucky, you will get front row seats which actually puts you...More

I was hesitant because my husband and I are in our 60's -but the ticket agent convinced me- and I'm glad I listened to him! 55 minutes long and worth it. The actors- costumes- and storyline was excellent- very touching. I laughed and I cried....More

My wife and I recently saw the play Androcles and the Lion at this theater. Its small and your right up close to the stage. You can feel that you’re a part of the play. This particular play encouraged audience participation in several ways. Such...More

My wife and I were seated in the front row (not her preference) on the left side of the theatre (stage right) for a very different performance of Shaw's "Androcles and the Lion" and we immensely enjoyed a very unique and unexpected superb performance of...More

This production is both enchanting and absolutely relevant at the same time. The play deals with issues of religion, feminism, colonialism, racism and other weighty concerns all in the context of a comedy approximately an hour long! Simply incredible! The cast, top to bottom, is...More

Sunday June 26th attended a performance of Uncle Vanya a tragicomedy by Chekhov. Very unhappy family living together is disharmony when another family member returns home, and turns the world upside down for the relatives, employees, and moochers who live there.
