The battles between the british and the french was well explained in the museum. There is a remainng building onsite from 1708. The museum did a great job in explaining through film what they went through.

We didn’t actually tour the fort but walked around the grounds. Many informative signs and a great spot to watch the sunset. No one asked us to pay an admission fee. There are public restrooms as well. Would recommend

If you only want to walk on the site, with a leash, I think you can. But if you want a guide you better with no dog.
