Unfortunately the museum was closed on the day we visited and it was a moist and misty day but the smallish site is well worth a visit.

We came during the last week of October so only the outside grounds were open. They were beautiful to walk around. We met a local who was happy to tell us about the history of the fort and recommended the ghost tour of the cemetery...More

I am generally not interested in ghost tours, and I am very glad that someone recommended the graveyard tour at Fort Anne. Our guide used the actual gravestones to weave the fascinating history of the fort and the town. It was fascinating and delightful.

If you only want to walk on the site, with a leash, I think you can. But if you want a guide you better with no dog.
