In a city known for its gardens, the Government House Gardens remain basically unknown. Maintained by volunteers, these gardens are lovely, diverse, and inspiring. A guided tour is worth the expense, and I can recommend Arthur and Leslie as guides with great knowledge and a passion for the gardens.

We walk through the amazing gardens of this place. It’s worth the trip. Many different areas to enjoy that are well maintained and seem to just keep going. It’s a hidden gem that I don’t think many venture to. We didn’t go into the house. It’s absolutely free and worth the adventurer

Beautiful, large, mature gardens. Built on a rocky outcrop, there are flat parts of the garden at the back, plantings among the rocks and some sunken gardens. When we visited there were lots of spring flowers - crocuses, daffodils, snow-drops, hellebores in many colours. Beautiful view. Public toilets. Great place to walk and enjoy

Good wholesome food, great desserts, attentive staff and a fun place to see and experience. Reservations are required and easy to make with a phone call.

Lovely wandering about - great views - will come again - entrance way has a sign which is a bit misleading - go strait in & look for parking lot.

The home of HRH Queen Elizabeth II's representative in British Columbia, Government House is not open to tours or visitors. The grounds and gardens are open, however, and worth strolling around. Wandering around the paths and more formal areas there are lots of flora and fauna to experience and nice vistas of Victoria, the sea and the surrounding area.

I love walking over to Government House. The gardens are lovely to wander around. Always very quiet. It’s in a nice neighbourhood so makes a nice walk along the different streets. Craigdarroch castle is a short walk from there.

This feels like a hidden gem in Victoria with beautiful grounds and many places to enjoy the sunshine and have a picnic. The parking was easy and the gardens were quiet. I was surprised there weren't more people here. It also has nice distant views of the water and one gets a sense of old Victoria visiting here.
