We love the Storm Crow Tavern! We last visited 5 years ago and it's only gotten better. There is a really genuine love for the various source material the decor and menu draws from. If you like fantasy and sci-fi or gaming of any kind...More
If you like the typical geek stuff walking into this place will make you stop and do a giddy hop of joy. The memorabilia alone is worth going to have a look at.
We went while the screening of x files was on and it...More
This place is pretty nice, kind of busy. I dont know if you can book a table but if you can you should. You can have a beer or coktail, you can eat and you can play board game. The decor is pretty nice: star...More
Yes, this place is quirky and geeky and nerdy. But it actually has great food. We came here for brunch and -- except for the coffee which was bitter -- thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were helpful and atmosphere was ... interesting!
This place is neat, full of fantasy - sci-fi paraphernalia, the food is good, lots of drink choices and take your chance with the 20-sided dice. Great to people watch here. This trip I got the nacho's - way too much food even for 2.
Not as good as its alehouse sister, in my opinion, but still great!
Staff are just lovely and the food menu has a good selection of vegan and gluten free food. Cocktails are spectacular. Found the bigger blacker deck here :)
Opposite of my table, on an appropriate, though slightly ironic, chest-high wall, hung a collection of framed covers of classic Dungeons & Dragons modules (like late 70s classic). I recognized them because I still own two of those exact adventures.
I’m old and a geek....More
When travelling, I try and find an Art O Mat vending machine, and Storm's Crow is the only one in Western Canada. Unfortunately, it is broken, but I was still so glad that we went. The poutine was excellent and my friends and I had...More
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit
of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
