Had a wonderful tour of an interesting part of old Vancouver that is coming back. Our guide, Hanna, was fun and knowledgeable and an obvious foodie. Would never have found these places on my own, and our group of seven all had a really good time. This is a great tour, and perfect for visitors or locals, thank you Hanna and VRDFT!

Thank you so much for the review, we really appreciate the feedback. We are so happy you enjoyed Hannah's guiding, she is really a gem. We are proud of showing off a side of Vancouver that a lot of tourists (and even locals) don't know exists, and as the oldest neighbourhood in Vancouver, Railtown was once the home to Little Japantown and is such a hidden gem!
Thanks again for coming and for the review.

My niece and I did this tour and after living in the Vancouver area for most of my life and all of hers had no idea that there was even a Railtown area. Hannah was an amazing tour guide full of history and information on the the food that we were being served at our amazing stops. We loved it and are already planning to do the Ice Cream and Pizza tour in the spring. In fact you have hooked us on a new hobby of finding food tours in wherever our travels might take us. We will definitely be going back many times to our new favourite places in Railtown.

Having visited Vancouver previously, we were keen to experience a different side of this city. We love local food experiences and this tour didn't disappoint with the variety that it offered. A word of warning though - the tour begins in a very dodgy neighbourhood and it is quite confronting to get out of the cab in the middle of a tent city. My suggestion to Off The Eaten Track is to start the tour a little closer to the edge of Gastown and then walk the guests up to the starting point. Explain about the community and the area then, rather than standing on the corner outside the baseball field feeling very insecure and unsure.

We went to five different restaurants and had a lot of food and beer and wine and desserts. The only thing I would suggest is to have the dessert at the end and also inform us of that . Hannah was so informational and was always eager to answer questions. She was great and your money is very well spent on this tour.

We took the "Eat Like a Canadian" food tour with Bonnie in Victoria, and it was awesome! Many stops, all well chosen and with tasty bites at each place. Bonnie is very knowledgeable about the area and has many stories to share about and in between each stop, so there was never a dull moment. Highly recommended!

We were so lucky to get Bonnie as our guide, for the third time! My husband and I had previously taken two tours with Bonnie, and I decided to take the same tour again with her exactly on year apart, “The Knife and Fort” Tour. We just recently took her Eat Like A Canadian tour in July, which was awesome! Be prepared for a lot of great food that is filling and delicious, so bring your appetite for that tour! The tour we had recently taken included some new stops, as one of the vendors sadly had to close their doors. We sampled some charcuterie, excellent homemade cookies, cheese tea (very refreshing and tasty), Middle Eastern street food, Mexican street food, and some pastries. Bonnie is so friendly and knowledgeable about the food we sampled, along with the history of the area. It was like we were meeting a close friend living in the area who happily showed us around to places off the main tourist drag and had so much knowledge of the proprietors and their businesses. We have yet to experience all of her tours offered, but hope to make it up to Victoria for another visit and try the others! Thank you, Bonnie!

Excellent food tour. Went to a part of Vancouver that I would probably not have gone to. Glad I did. The tour guide was awesome and provided some amazing insight to the area.

This was a great tour and eating experience. The guide was knowledgeable about the area and about the food. The pizza, craft beer and last but not least the ice cream were great. As lovers of ice cream this was just the tour for us. Serving sizes were excellent too. We would highly recommend this event.

Which tours are suitable for a vegetarian diet?
Eaten T
Vancouver, Canada6 contributions
Most of them! Each of our tours has the option to be vegetarian, we just ask that after you book you reach out to us to let us know so that we can make arrangements. The only tour that is not vegetarian but pescatarian (seafood is served but not meat) is the Eat Like a Canadian tour.
Are the food and beverages included in the tour price?
Eaten T

Yes, the cost includes all food and beverages. The the only cost that is not included is a gratuity for the guide which is recommended.
Thanks,
Bonnie

Hi, What hotels are nearby? We are thinking of the Main Street Hidden Gems Culinary Tour.
Thank you for any information you can provide!

The tour starts at the Amtrak station where the tour guide picks up everyone to travel by van to the start of the walking tour. The Pan Pacific Hotel and others are near the Amtrak Station. We stayed at a hotel on Robson Street and had a nice walk to the Station. It would also be a quick cab ride from anywhere downtown.
