We did the entire trail in just over 2 hours. Prompt service from Tofino Water Taxi- called that morning & met us at 10:00 am in Tofino. Short boat ride to Meares Island. Trails were muddy but we had been told to wear good rubber...More

On the way to Tofino, you drive right through the Cathedral Grove, and there are lots of easy hiking trails in a beautiful forest. The Big Tree is worth seeing, as it's huge!

Do yourself the favor of reading a bit about the history before you come, but when you get here be sure to spend a decent amount of time marvelling at giants of the natural world. This is a place dreams are made of.

This is a nice boardwalk hike through old growth forest. The boardwalk is a natural "rough" boardwalk and can be slippery. The hike is not long if you just do the boardwalk portion.

We took the Tofino Water Taxi (kudos to Chuck) to the drop off point. There are 2 levels, a short walk that will take no longer than 30 minutes; or if you're more adventurous take the longer loop. The longer loop takes between 2-3 hours....More

We did the Big Tree Trail plus the loop. It is advertised as a 2-3 hour hike. We took 1.5 hours to do the hike, so it will depend on your conditioning and the number of side trips that you make from the trail. You...More

Great lovely part of Meares Island. You can book a water taxi to take you there (Clayoquot Connections ! Ask for Dennis!), or kayak (Paddle West) or Canoe (Tashii). Wear sensible shoes - the trail is patchy wood here and there!

Fantastic short boat trip with Ocean Outfitters or rent kayaks. Must climb out of boat onto the rocks and scramble a little to the trail head. Lots of narrow stairs and board walks going up and down through the woods to the big trees. Can...More

This trail is a beautiful walk, and is not to hard. The boat ride over was beautiful and full of wildlife, and the hanging garden is splendid.
