The colours in spring and summer are quite exquisite. This is a peaceful and relaxing little oasis in the centre of downtown Kelowna. There are ponds alive with carp and I have on accessions seen turtles as well.

The Japanese Garden is a well hidden secret in Kelowna right behind City Hall. It would be easy to miss but shouldn't be. The landscaping is very intricate with a great variety of trees and shrubs including huge water lilies that the huge Koi hide under. There are benches to sit quietly and reflect with your thoughts. A well looked after garden and a definite plus for Kelowna.

I am not a garden type but came to show out of town family around. As my title infers, dogs are not allowed on the grounds... even if leashed. So we left our pet at the entrance and strolled. Free admission and a quiet place to contemplate and watch the overly large koi in the ponds.
Gardens are closed in the winter and opens again in the spring. It is enclosed by a large wooden fence with only 2 entrances on the west side... so don't even think about sneaking in if it is not open.
A nice 10 minutes... then I got bored.

This lovely but small Japanese garden in downtown Kelowna is, unlike many Japanese gardens in North America, free! It's a tribute to Kelowna that the garden does not appear to have suffered any vandalism. So take a break from your busy day and feel your blood pressure go down in this peaceful and beautiful place.

What a delightful space to explore while in Kelowna! It’s small, beautiful, meditative and easy to negotiate. There are rocks, well manicured, healthy trees and water that work in harmony to produce a very satisfying experience! It was gratifying to see many children enjoying nature at its best. Very Highly Recommended!

We ventured out to see tourist spots and found this place . It’s located right beside the city municipality office in downtown Kelowna , pay parking is across the park. It’s not a very big place but beautifully manicured Japanese gardens with path and bridge to walk across. Qoi big goldfish like fish not sure how to spell it swimming in a pond with little pads on top. Very peaceful place. About 15 min walk about.

This was one of our highlights during our trip to Kelowna. Located just behind Cityhall, the well-kept gardens were a peaceful escape from the city. We felt as though we were teleported to Japan.
We recommend picking up one of the information cards /self-guided tour maps before walking around.

It is not a big park but it is very nice. It is free so great place to visit as part of your day in Kelowna. Take a few minutes to get away from the crowds and noise or action along the waterfront.

Sorry didn't see this question till now. The Garden I believe is closed now. Usually closes in Oct/Nov. The garden is beautiful anytime of the year that it is open. It should open again in March.

where to stay between kamloops and calgary

It depends how far you would like to go on the first day and what kind of environment you prefer. Revelstoke is a really nice mountain town with a very pleasant downtown vibe. It's only about 2 1/2 hrs from Kamloops so would leave you with a 4 1/2 hr drive the next day, during which you may want to stop for the spectacular scenery in the national parks which would add a bit to your time. Or you could drive 5 1/2 hrs the first day and stay in Banff, which is a very busy tourist town with prices to match but nevertheless a beautiful spot. Or stay in Canmore just down the road, also a beautiful town. It would leave you with just an hour's drive to Calgary from there.
There are also other stops along the way, just as Golden, between Recelstoke and Banff. Or Field, a really tiny place between Golden and Banff with a cool little lodge called the Truffle Pigs. Good restaurant there too. It really depends on the type of place you like.
