We had been driving for quite a while and decided to stop for a break and as we had seen a lot of Lakes and Waterfalls we were not interested in seeing another lake but as we were stiff from the drive we decided to...More

The National Park people might be concerned about the number of people coming here for some adventure jumping or diving off the beautiful cliffs - they have removed references to it from the roadside signs. It is understandable in a way, as where there is...More

The icefield parkway has many scenic stops along the way but I found Horseshoe Lake to be one of the very best. Absolutely beautiful: crystal clear water, beautiful rock faces, short walk from the parking area, scenic hike...just perfect. If I were a location scout...More

I feel like Horseshoe lake was a great find. It wasn't a stop we had planned ahead of time, but while driving towards Athabasca Falls, I noticed this vivid blue colored lake out of the corner of my eye. After exploring into and hiking through...More

We found this trail despite the road signage being removed. Locals told us that it is no longer signed to deter people from cliff jumping- clearly a great place for it though. We had a great hike around the lake with lots of great views....More

This is a very cool but isolated lake. People come here to cliff jump and its perfect for that. But man that water is cold! It was 30 degrees out that was the only way I would jump in here. Kids must not feel the...More

Crystal clear, calm water makes for a great swimming hole! We were lucky to have a sunny day so we hung out on the rocks and enjoyed the views and watching the locals jump from the many cliffs. There were varying heights so even we...More

My title says it all for this one. It is about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot to get to access the water, however there isn't a dedicated trail to get there and you are climbing on and navigating through rocks. The view...More
