On the day we went, and we only were on one side, Herbert Lake was magnificent. The views across the lake to the mountains and glaciers were spectacular and I'm glad that we stopped and walked at least a bit. This is a very special...More

Herbert Lake normally is a calm Lake, not too much moving of the water, very often smooth like a mirror. So the panorama is perfectly reflected in the water.....for perfect photos

Another lake in the handful of beauties in Banff National Park. It is a quick turn off of highway 93 between Banff and Jasper and worth a stop.

Herbert Lake Icefields Parkway Banff National Forest Alberta is another colourful glacier fed lake in the Canadian Rockies. Mirror like calm surface reflects the surrounding greenery. Small slice of heaven.

I spent a full day driving the Icefields Parkway from Lake Louise to Jasper, making many stops along the way. The first stop that I made was at Herbert Lake, just north of Lake Louise about ten minutes. There was a small pull-out area on...More

There is so, so much more to see down the road that I wouldn't spend much time here unless you had oodles of time. It is pretty and I would love to be there at sunrise and quietly look and listen for wildlife. But, if...More

This lake has mountains as backdrops, just not as grand nor majestic as what can be found in other lakes in the Banff/Jasper area. Its shoreline is just too even to offer much of a dramatic effect. But one thing going for it is peace...More

Arrived here early morning with mist coming off the lake, which was like glass, and not a soul about. It was stunning!
