Sett Valley Trail The Sett Valley Trail is approximately 2.5 mile trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders from New Mills the torrs to Hayfield. It is an old railway line. Very quite and peaceful walk in the countryside.

We did part of the trail from Hayfield before heading off right up to lantern pike. Nice easy walking with our dog in the summer sunshine . Toilets and picnic area in the car park a bonus .

Good walk to New Mills and back. Mainly on level ground but a few steepish places. Would suit most able bodied people

This would be a lovely flat walk, especially for small children, if it weren’t for the frequent dog leavings to be found in the grassy verges just where kids would want to walk and look for sticks etc. Perhaps more bins could be provided to...More

A stroll along an old railway line to be greeted by the treat that is Hayfield Village, for coffee and artisan bakery treats.

The Sett Valley Trail is an easy walk, good to visit at different times of year to see the changing of the seasons. The Hayfield end also provides a good opportunity to explore the village and get some refreshments.

Lovely, well-maintained path great for bikes, we took it from Hayfield campsite to New Mills with the kids. The round trip was about 7 miles, and there were plenty of places to stop for a rest along the way.

We very much enjoyed our, 5 mile round trip, family (children 9 and 12) walk from New Hills to Hayfield and back. It was an easy, leisurely walk with a gradual uphill walk most of the way to Hayfield, with the obvious down hill return....More
