This place is not just famous for its architecture but also a favorite location for FPJ's films especially his semi cowboy films. This massive structure sits on the hilly portion of Magdalena town.

The church itself has it's own charm and it is perfect for pilgrims. It has a very solemn aura and very relaxing environment.

This 18th century church is perhaps the most famous in the municipality of Magdalena in the Province of Laguna. We visited it during our traditional "visita iglesia" or church visit. The very first thing that struck me with this church is its grandiose façade flanked by a lovely convent. Inside you'll find a simple sanctuary with the main altar and a "retablo". The walls made of stone look very nice and the elaborate pulpit as well. The white wooden ceiling has a simple decoration. Everything looks very neat and well-kept, creating an ambiance very conducive to prayer.
On one side of the church you'll find the convent. By the staircase there's a historical marker commemorating the Philippine hero Emilio Jacinto. There's also a nice basement.

Some scenes from the General Luna film of 2015 was shot on this church ground. This Baroque style church is located in the town proper of Magdalena, Laguna.
