Masjid Dimaukom popularly known as the Pink Mosque in the municipality of Datu Saudi Ampatuan in Maguindanao is becoming a popular attraction in the region. It is located just a few hundred steps from the main road.

The pink color of the mosque makes it the first pink mosque in the country. Odd maybe, but it looks really cool and interesting and it will make you wonder why is it in color pink.

Pink is the mayor and his wife's favorite color because they believe that pink is a symbol of peace and harmony. The other surrounding structures like the municipal hall are also in pink which make it more vibrant and appealing.

Make sure you dress properly when you visit the mosque. It is a mosque so proper attire is required to enter the compound. Let's always show respect to the religious/cultural places we visit.

At first we were asking ourselves why paint a mosque pink? Then our tour guide/driver told us that it somewhat symbolizes wealth (correct me if I am wrong).

It took us nearly half an hour just to appreciate the beauty of this mosque. It isn't because it was huge, in fact it wasn't that big but because you need to look at the mosque on different angles to see its total magnificence.

While taking a photo sitted on the ground, a kind kid gave me a mat to sit on which i respectfully declined as I am used to sitting on ground anyways. This shows the kindness of the people whether you are a Christian or a Muslim.

I asked the caretaker if I could shoot the inside from the window. To my surprise he invited me in as long as I remove my shoes. No problem!

From the inside, kids were reciting the Quran and it was like they were singing the words.

What astonished me most what that the caretaker invited the kids inside and give me a sample of them reciting the Quran while I video them.

Cotabato City is a very beautiful and safe city. Do not believe the negative things about our Muslim brothers. In fact, they have been so nice, kind, and generous to us.

I am glad we made our trip to Cotabato and visited their mosques. We will definitely go back here and check out other farther attractions.

My suggestion, visit this Masjid Dimaukom otherwise known as Pink Mosque. It is just a wonderful place.

Oh and wear pink!

About 10min walk from the main road, the mosque opened late 2014 ad financed by then Municipal Mayor Dimaukom which bears the name of the place. The bright pink color is painted all over the mosque from facade to minarets and domes. It can hold about 200 worshipers.

In a land torn by war and strife, the colors represents a calming presence as with other pink colored public buildings like the school, town center and town hall.

It was a pleasant surprise to visit 'Masjid Dimaukom' - popularly known as 'Pink Mosque'. We went there on a Wednesday afternoon and hence it was not crowded.

The prayer hall is specious and clean. I went there with my Muslim friends and was able to ask them some questions regarding prayer.

If you are in Maguindanao province (near Cotabato), do visit the place.

I went to Datu Saudi Ampatuan last december 2017 for a medical mission together with my fellow pharmacist. Actually it was a joint medical-dental outreach program. When our association announced that we are going to have a medical mission I volunteered myself because I it was my dream to be involved doing an outreach program. So, it was my first time joining the outreach program and it was my first to go to that place. Hence, one of my colleagues wanted to see the pink mosque, our team went there.

I went to Maguindanao last June 23 as part of my 3 day solo backpacking adventure. i admit, the idea of going to Maguindanao alone is so crazy even my mother warned me not to go there. But to cut the long story short, I went there, on my own. I took a van from Koronadal City and travel time is more than one hour. As the assistant to the driver told me I am already in my desired destination, I took a deep breath and got out. It was so hot, the sun was already scorching. From the main road, I can already see the hot pinkness of the mosque. It was so stunning. I have never seen such a marvelous architecture. From afar, it looks like a pink palace. I got in and went to the souvenir shop to ask how can I get inside. She told me I need a scarf or anything to cover my hair. Since I don't have any I asked her if can I buy it. Instead, the kind lady lend me her scarf and told me to bring it back later. I went inside, and if I was so amazed on the exterior of the mosque, the interior was even more stunning. It is a palace. Everything is so royal. I took photos of the entire place and was glad I survived this adventure. Maguindanao is awesome. The people were so warm and accommodating. My experience in this province was really unforgettable.

I've been seeing pictures everywhere and it still wowed me when I saw it for the first time. From GenSan, I traveled solo by bus to Cotabato city. After about 4 hours, the driver brought me down at a police outpost near a roundabout (marked by a ball structure) at Datu Saudi Ampatuan and from there, I asked for directions from the friendly policemen. The mosque is just a few minutes walk. If you're continuing your journey to Cotabato city, just walk back to the roundabout and hail a passing van or jeep. The city's about an hour away. Along the way, you''ll pass by the famous Blue Lagoon at Brgy Margues (on your right if coming from the Pink Mosque). Being female and solo (I'm Filipino btw), I did not encounter issues and felt comfortable traveling on my own though I can't really vouch that it'll be the same experience if you're a foreign traveler. People spoke Tagalog and were kind enough to give directions. Some tricycle drivers near the roundabout were yelling at me and I couldn't figure out what they were saying but I guess they were just curious. Overall, my experience was pleasant. People were generally kind. An extra tip to fellow female travelers, dress modestly when traveling to this area. Wear pants and avoid showing too much skin. Shirts, sandals and capri pants are fine.

We just drop by in this place while we are road tripping going to Dapitan. The place is cool, our first time to see an actual mosque. And in bright magenta! Perfect for family visit.
