There is a review below that suggests only going to this site if you are a Buddhist. I can understand their perspective however the setting is very lovely. I was there at the beginning of the season so missed having a Monastery tour.

We were expecting something a bit more than an overgrown area with some buildings in need of repair, trails poorly maintained, 95% of area "off limits" and a general trashy looking environment. Don't waste your time unless you are really into Buddhism. Sorry.

Not only the Stupa but the whole place is very worth visiting if you have any curiosity about her work. Or even if you don't, one of the most beautiful places on Earth, with an ocean view equal to any on California's route 1.
The abbey grounds and buildings are dilapidated and, for some reason, felt creepy.
