Over the years, we've explored Canada de la Virgen several times with family and friends. Though there are more impressively scaled pyramid sites in Mexico, these ruins are easily accessible, interesting, and make for a lovely half-day experience. Typically we explored the site on our...More

Fortunately we had a spanish speaking friend who was able to translate for us. Travelling on South African Rands makes the tour run by Albert Coffee "ridiculously expensive" (50-60 US incl transport and entry fee). We travelled in our own transport to site from San...More

Such an exciting adventure. Too bad the organizers do not have sufficient funds to improve this historic place. But with what they do have, it was worthwhile. I would suggest they have bathrooms closer to the path, bilingual guides, and some sort of assistance for...More

Very interesting archaeological site, although much smaller scale than some of the famous Yucatan sites. No one can enter the site unless accompanied by a guide. I highly recommend making advance reservations for a small group tour with Albert Coffee, an American archaeologist who worked...More

My wife and I spent the day touring this with Albert Coffee (look him up and book him) and the ruins are so beautiful and that you feel like you are there in the time period when they were built. There is still much undiscovered.

I thoroughly enjoyed the extremely well-curated tour given by our guide Albert Koffee. He gave a very good overview of the prehistory of the region, and what he said rang true, resonant with the vestiges of what I remembered from my Mesoamerican studies way back...More

We have had the good fortune to travel widely and have on multiple occasions, taken tours led by professionals. Maybe we have just been lucky, but we've always had outstanding guides. Our guide this time from Coyote Canyon adventures was Alberto. He was a virtual...More

This site is small compared to Teotihuacan, but is so respectfully treated and free of "tourism" that it is well worth a visit. Close to San Miguel de Allende, we took a local driver (our reserved a tour time over the phone on the previous...More
