I didn't regret going and enjoyed the easy roundtrip through the ruins. What you'll definitely want to see is the open mouth gate. It's unique in style and degree of conservation.

Chicanná is a small site with few visitors, but with interesting structures, including one entranceway that looks like the open mouth of a jaguar. It’s conveniently very close to the main Highway 186. This is a good site that can be done along with Xpujil...More

On our way from Rio bec dreams we stopped at Chicanna ruins. We had it all to ourselves. Gentle walk around theories which had exquisite carvings one of the best we saw. Do not skip these.

This is a very small archaeological site, but it has a building that must not be missed. It's a small building with an open mouth of a jaguar and some other kind of animal. To get into the building you must go thru this mouth....More

Pretty neat place, the name means 'Mouth snake house'. Two hours max. Would choose this site over nearby Xpuhil but Becan is a better site IMO. There were some minivan tours the day I went which surprised me.

These ruins are just across the road from the Ecovillage Resort and well worth a visit of an hour or so. The layout is very flat and there are just 7 structures to see, all quite close together.

Chicanná is a smaller Mayan ruin that is well taken care of. It has several excavated structures, with Structure II having a beautiful facade. There were very few visitors touring the site when I went. The cost was only $50 (pesos).

I rolled into Chiccana not quite knowing what to expect and a bit tired after several bigger sites that day. When I saw the monster maw doorway I said, out loud, "WOW". If you are in the area there is no reason not to go....More

This was easy to get to and interesting. It was very close to where we were staying. Even though it was small it was still impressive,
