Barrio Alameda is a charming little shopping gallery in the heart of Mexico City, a walking distance from Centro Historico, filled with history, tradition and shops selling a mix of local design and lifestyle products. Built in the late 1920s, this family-run Art Deco “galeria comercial” provides the perfect environment for relaxation and could serve as a “sanctuary” from all the surrounding buzz of the big metropolitan city thanks to its peaceful atmosphere and greenery planted everywhere. The Barrio Alameda visitors can enjoy a range of shops and services the place has to offer 7 days a week; from food and drink or health and beauty to Mexican indigenous and modern arts and crafts, to a tattoo studio and yoga classes, everyone can find their favourite. On the third floor of the building, there is a modern designy boutique B&B which adds to the gallery’s unique vibe. Last but not least, Barrio Alameda has a large rooftop terrace which hosts several events per month and from where you can watch the Mexico City skyline with Alameda Central, the first public park in the Americas, in front, or just enjoy the life go by with a coffee, beer or a typical Mexican Mezcal. The gallery welcomes single travellers, couples, families or groups; whatever “package” you come as, there is enough choice for all tastes and preferences at Barrio Alameda.

This "plaza" is a reconditioned neighborhood turned into cool shops and restaurants. The architecture alone is worth visiting. The food offer is good and the shops offer a modern folklore vibe. There’s a restaurant at the top, called “La Azotea” which have an incredible view...More

We visited this place on a Friday night, it was small but it was very busy, it has a new concept and some restaurants around where you can get a pitch of beer or some good food.

Do some exercise and climb four flours to the rooftop of this 1930's building overlooking the Alameda and all the wonderful colonial churches surrounding it. The contrast with the XXI century architecture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is amazing. Have a local brew from...More

A hipster oasis in the city center. Really nice to take a walk, buy curiosities and have a drink. The shop "Utilitario Mexicano" a must!
