Beautiful old trees, precious colonial architecture, fine open space, artists, troubadours, music, restaurants for all purses, this is my favorite hangout spot in Guanajuato, particularly compared with the slightly claustrophobic Jardin de la Union. I had lunch here, a nice plate of enchiladas verdes with...More

Quiet, picturesque, benches under trees or in the sun. This plaza has some restaurants and cafés. Lots of open space for kids to play.

While spending a week in Guanajuato, we have gone to the Plaza de San Fernando numerous times. There are many restaurants and cafes, a bookstore, internet cafe and some other shops. There is a lovely little plaza and usually some strolling musicians. Nice place to...More

This is one of my favorite plazas in Guanajuato. It's above the streets and closed off to traffic. There are big old trees and benches, and lots of cafes and restaurants where you can sit outdoors and have a drink or meal.

There is always a lot happening in this quaint spot. Adjacent restaurants and a few shops are part of the draw. You can sit in the shade and watch the world go by.

Try to get there around noon and get your second dose of coffee there or even your lunch/brunch. It probably is one of the most quiet places in Guanajuato. A pearl in a quite busy little university town. Plenty of trees all around the place....More

This is a very lovely square in the center of town with many bars, restaurants (none very good) and a few shops. Not as fancy and crowded as the Jardin of the Union, it is a nice place to have a drink and watch people.

Plaza de San Fernando is casual to Jardin de la Union's upscale. It's a great place to grab a table, eat some grub, share a few drinks, and people watch sitting under one of the many beautiful old trees in the plaza. It's not a...More

A pleasant triangular plaza with several casual eateries with outdoor seating in the square. The busiest spot was Cerro de las Ranas (hill of the frogs) perhaps because it has 30-peso beer! A few nice trees. No cars in the square. Very pleasant. We stopped...More

Great spot to grab some food, watch the locals walk by, the children play. Take the opportunity to rest, plan where you will walk to next, as this is a walking around town...
