Our Lady of the Refuge parish church is located overlooking Hidalgo Park just a couple of hundred paces from the north end of the Malecon. It is a contemporary Gothic-inspired church that a tour website said was started in 1960. In Gothic style, it has...More

Thursday 12th April we were in Puerto Vallarta and we visited this Church which is not the typical style of Mexican Church and possibly a bit plain looking in comparison. This Gothic style Church is situated near the intersection of Calle Peru and Argentina, a...More

This church was down the block from our rental and a few of visited it, though we heard the bells every night (sadly they are automated and without much character). Its a simple church, well attended and modest. There are no candles for prayers but...More

Great history behind this church, set in the Old Town with great shops nearby. Wear good shoes as the cobblestone roads can be hard on the ankles.

My wife and I were on vacation in Puerto Vallarta on Ash Wednesday, and received directions to The Church of Our Lady of the Refuge where we received ashes...what a blessing to be welcomed into this incredibly beautiful church for the service.

This is a newer church than Our Lady of Guadalupe. It was started in the 60's. The style is Gothic and has an altar showing the altar as a refuge for the Virgin Mary.

Interesting old town location. There are old time houses. Noisy coble stone streets, wear flat good shoes or you might twist ur annkle. Very compact and rustic.

Known for its gothic influence, my favorite part of this church is the use of stained glass and golden accents. If you ever ride a bus south to centro in this town, you will undoubtedly pass by this church where you will see a handful...More

It's about 2.5 miles. It is just north of the main downtown area near the north end of the Malecon. Realize that this is not the main downtown church, which is Our Lady of Guadalupe.
