Went to old Mazatlan to buy seafood and went to a stand at the far back corner of the marcado. The mahi mahi and prawns were ok but the “scallops” were absolutely atrocious! When we got back to our room and opened them to prepare them they were hard and not opaque, almost like they’d been overcooked but they were supposed to be raw scallops. Not satisfied at all. Be very careful when buying seafood and make sure to watch the whole time it is bagged/packaged.…

Or I was just tired from all the walking I have been doing on this trip to my Motherland..I did not take a tour because since I left teaching after so many years..I do not really want to be on a schedule any more plus they seemed expensive..and started early..Anyway..I was impressed how the locals are making efforts to repair & restore alot of this area..sure a lot of streets are closed but I wasn't driving..This area looks like the typical scene from an old Mexican town with the colorful shops & houses..The locals here were friendly & willing to help me get to my destination like the Malecon..and Infante Museum;;really disappointed so many places were closed like a book store, some restaurants…

The old town behind the high-rise hotels along the beach is absolutely charming. The early morning walk especially was great fun.

We took a walking tour of Old Mazatlan with a local guide. We were quite disappointed with the area and its state of repair. Maybe it was glamorous many years ago, but it looked pretty bleak during our visit.
