Welcoming and comfortable!

Lovely little pub with welcoming, friendly staff and amazing company. Beer is great! Definitely an upgrade from the last owners! Great entertainment on a weekend and hopefully are going to be seeing food very soon! Very clean and hygienic. All round 10/10!

My partner and I ate here twice over the MotoGP weekend . Staff were very friendly and food was good too. Lovely setting , with outdoor eating area and fully accessible for a wheelchair .

This is a lovely pub to sit out side and sit in the food is very good, a nice choice of menu for all including the children, the staff are very polite and helpful, we took some friends there from Yorkshire and they loved it, we will definitely go back.

Good pub grub and good location

Nice to sit outside in the summer by the canal. Good average pub grub from a chain.

Great, easy location for people unused to the area to meet

Dogs
Feb 2016 • Family
Over the past several weeks the numbers of Dogs being brought into the pub has increased from one or two to sometimes five or six.The issue I have is the owners make no attempt to keep their dogs clear from the bar area where customers are trying to get served.Doggy games also take place like chase the beermat or whatever or whos dog
can whine the loudest, when the weather is damp outside the pub smells like a kennel.Question is what if a customer was to trip over a dog or lead who is liable, what if a dog bites a customer or another dog who is liable. This pub also sells food and there is no segregation from the dog area and the food eating area. Also many people are allergic to dog hair and this can cause breathing and skin problems. My issue in not with the dogs but the selfish owners who think spending 2-3 hrs in a pub with their dogs is the perfect day, well maybe it is for you but not for other customers or the dogs who clearly get bored after 30mins or so.
the perfect day, well maybe it is for you but not other customers and also the dogs

Much improved

Called in as the snow meant travel was impossible

Despite the usual slow service the food was really nice. I had the gammon which was nicely cooked and the missus had some chicken burger effort. Both were nice homely meals and reasonably priced too

And finally they've changed the oil in the fryer

Disappointed
Aug 2015 • Friends
Called in on the day I moved house as no energy left to cook

It was Friday and my parents were with me. They decided to have the 'fish & chip Friday special'. I had the 'signature baguette'.

Mine was actually quite nice except had a little too much bbq sauce.

The fish my parents got however were horrific. The menu shows a picture of a nice big battered fish. What came out looked like the four-for-a-£1 breadcrumbed version from farmfoods. Additionally the chip fat is way passed its 'please change me' stage and it ruined the taste.

Not bad

Called in for a drink and some grub on a Saturday. Wasn't sure what I wanted to eat but saw a 'specials board' with "sizzling burger" advertised

Decided to go for that

It was actually quite nice but decidedly lacking in "sizzle". The woman came over to ask how the food was and we replied "very nice but the burger wasn't sizzling"

She replied "nothing much sizzles in that kitchen love" before clearing our plates

The chip fat could do with changing

Really good vfm though and a pleasant atmosphere

New Landlady, New Start!
Jan 2014 • Friends
After avoiding the place myself, and a few others. I'm happy to announce The Britannia Inn has a new landlady!! The pub, once a ruled establishment has now been returned to it's former glory. A warm, welcoming, family friendly establishment where you can go and have a drink with your friend, be proud to take your family for dinner and experience a relaxing time!
There is an covered outside patio area which is very handy when it's raining for people who smoke, and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside with a pint of cider in the British summer whilst at the Brit to watch the Wimbledon. There are several TVs with Sky for when the football is on including a projector screen and plasma TV! Last time I went in a bunch of lads wanted to watch the rugby so they asked the landlady and she happily put it on on the TV in the dining room so all 12 lads could sit happily in the dining room watching the match without disturbing the other people in the pub.
Personally I don't drink anywhere else in Mossley, the other pubs down the road always seem very loud as they have discos on but The Brit is not too loud but not too quite, there's always someone to talk to or I just go and sit down and go on my laptop using the free WI-FI available!
There's always a selection of real cask ales, My favourite being Trooper and Hobgoblin when it's on or the seasonal ales on at christmas!
I usually go with my boyfriend or with friends and we plays a few games of pool which is in the room with the plasma and there is a selection of music playing from classic rock to 80's pop and I've heard people ask for requests and the landlady's husband has put it on the music system for them.
It's just a great place to go and chill and unwind after work, or to go and have a few lively drinks with friends.
