We had visited the outside of this castle before, but this time we were able to go inside. It has a commanding view of perhaps 50 kilometres in any direction. The views are truly spectacular. The inside is interesting but somewhat smaller than I had imagined after walking around the structure. It was still interesting, and the views from the tower are worth the price of admission.…

If you are into the countryside scene, you are in for a treat. Great place to visit, the tickets were inexpensive and the inside of the castle was worth the visit. Lots of history to see and hear about, you can just envision the time/era of the place.

The castle was built in the XIIIth c. and meant to warn of a Portuguese incursion. Inside, you'll can appreciate suits of armour. The castle offers a beautiful view over the Sierra de Aracena and the Natural Park of Picos de Aroche. The castle is a private property. It is open to public during the winter season from 11am-2pm and later 4-6pm. Closed on Mondays. Price for entry is Eur2.…

March to the top of this beautiful hill to explore the interesting counsel about. It is a well preserved example of architecture from the 1300s. We really enjoyed exploring and walking around in taking in the breathtaking views from the top of the castle walls. Make sure to jump up on my way to this cute little town and have lunch at the plaza.…

If you have time and are staying in the area, then a visit to Cortegna and its main attraction, the castle, is well worthwhile. If coming from Aracena, combine it with a visit to Almonaster Real and the very attractive Alajara. The visit to the castle is nothing stunning and it is fairly interesting and the views are very nice.…
