About
A light to warn shipping was first established on the Southerly tip of the Isle of Wight in 1323. Today the distinctive octagonal tower of St.Catherine's Lighthouse provides a waymark for vessels navigating in the English Channel and a guide to vessels approaching the Solent. Each tour is approximately 40 minutes. Tours of St Catherine's Lighthouse are operated by Andrew Booth, under licence from The Corporation of Trinity House.

Family walk

Lovely walk to the lighthouse.
It’s a shame it is downhill there and uphill back, but loved it all the same.
Beautiful lighthouse and views. Good walk along the cliff top too.

Serene and calm visit with a lovely cafe nearby with amazing food. There are also sea facing caravans you can stay in nearby too. A little piece of heaven...

Nice to see but nothing too special

Walked down to see the lighthouse, there is a lot of national trust area to walk around to. The Lighthouse itself is nice to look at but nothing too special

Closed at the moment, but lovely to view
Aug 2020
I had been reading about how lovely this lighthouse was and to go and visit. Upon driving to the lighthouse, we discovered you can't drive up to the lighthouse, you need to park about 20 minutes away and park (as it's a private road). It is hilly (you park at the top). It wouldn't be suitable for people on crutches or possibly in a wheelchair (depending on how fit you are).

It is worth going to have a look if you can though, as it's beautiful to look at. Also please note it is amongst residential estate where you park (on the street) and it is a one-way system.

You can't go in the lighthouse unfortunately but you can get close enough to see the lens rotate. You can't drive up to the lighthouse, you need to park about a quarter of a mile away and walk the rest of the way. It's very photogenic and worth the trip.

One of the most beautiful places of the island.
If you visit Isle of Wight you must visit this lighthouse.

Very interesting

A group of us went we were given a very informative tour by one of the volunteer guides. The light house is quite amazing.many of its functions are over 100 years old, hope when they change things in this digital age that the actual structure and contents stay there for many more generations to explore.
