Snorkeling was great but not happy that I was covered in a thin film of oil from the oil depot 1/2 a mile away which put a downer on my day. The Bahamian Govt needs to wake up and think of an alternative, friendlier way of generating electricity. - DrLinda712Nassau, New Providence Island1 contributionWaste of time and moneyWe paid $27 each for a tour guide who got there half an hour late and we got to see three slave buildings and a banana hole. They need to up their game. Very disappointing. Also, we paid $10 to be able to drive in our van, instead of walking and the signage is terrible. We got stuck in the sand because of the poor signage and ended up paying $250 for a wrecker to pull our van out of the sand. The waters at Cabbage Beach are beautiful. Getting to that beautiful beach is a nightmare. You all need to up your game.DrLinda712, We are saddened that you did not enjoy your experience with us but are grateful that you took the time to provide valuable feedback. - 2CAMLittle Chalfont, United Kingdom78 contributionsNo place for the over 65sNo place for the over 65s! We weren’t actually able to visit this park, despite having rented a car for the day specifically so to do. We had not booked a tour because I had read the small print which says only age 12 to 65 years are allowed. However we thought we could do the snorkelling independently – but no! Despite us both being PADI certified divers, with considerable snorkelling experience we were not permitted. I cannot find this information anywhere on their website. There is no waiver. Yesterday we dived and snorkelled with sharks! Authorities decree we can’t make a risk decision for ourselves above a certain age. Disgusting and disappointing.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 7, 2023

My boyfriend and I did the snorkeling at heritage park with our guide Javon. He was very informative. I have been snorkeling a few times before and this was the best snorkeling experience I’ve had. We saw tons of fish and even a southern sting ray. It lasted about 45min-1hour. They supply snorkel gear. So I would definitely recommend. There was also a beautiful beach 5 min walk from the snorkeling it was absolutely gorgeous and it was almost private. Thank you Javon we had so much fun.

We had stopped here during our ATV tour and it was a great experience. Once we got there, we were greeted by a lady who gave us a tour of different spots throughout the park. She was very knowledgeable and provided us with a lot of interesting information about the land and its history.

It was a wonderful experience. We took the slave tour and really felt the tour guide brought everything alive for us! Lunch was good too! Octavia was the best! We loved the driver Joseph Ford. He gave us a history lesson on the ride to the park.

This is definitely the best beach to go and get away from the crowds. I paid for the beach package and it was awesome. Our bus driver Mr. Ford picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off afterwards at the hotel. He had a lot of local knowledge about the Bahamas. Fantastic host!

A beautiful, secluded beach day, snorkeling, and amazing people. My family of four did the snorkeling deluxe tour while stopped in Nassau on a cruise. Joseph picked us up right outside of the cruise port and gave us historical facts and sites as we drove to the national park. Snorkeling was beautiful, there were several colorful fish, coral reefs, and the sunken statures were breath taking. After snorkeling, we were taken to one of the beaches at the park for a beach day. The beach was like a postcard and we had it all to ourselves! Joseph delivered lunch around noon and then came back at 2 to take us back to the cruise port. I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to New Providence Island.

Clifton Heritage National Park was totally worth the drive from Nassau/Paradise Island. We did the heritage tour with Octavia who was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned so much about the history of New Providence and getting to see slave structures still standing over 200 years later was very memorable. Highly recommend!

If you want peace and solitude, this is the place to go. We visited two days in a row. The first day we wandered the property learning about the history and touring the ruins. The second day, we went for a guided snorkel tour and spent some time soaking up the sun and sea breeze on the beach which we had all to ourselves save a couple that was probably a hundred yards away. The snorkeling was beautiful and we were blessed to see a pair of eagle rays. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
We also got to see some local wildlife including a few hermit crabs, some giant caterpillars, terns, and little ghost crabs.

Hello, wondering how we can get to the park on our own? If we want to snorkel on our own, (we have own gears) do we still have to pay somewhere? Is the ocean atlas easy to find on our own, or do we have to book the tour?
Clifton H
Nassau, New Providence Island2 contributions
Hello sugar_mommy2019...thank you for your inquiry!
What kind of lodging facility are you staying to? Taxis cabs are usually located just outside the cruise ship port and at some of the major hotels. You can also rent a car or a scooter and follow the directions on Google map. In regards to paying, there is a fee to access the snorkeling site which starts at $27.50 ( taxes included) - our self- guided tour, which also includes the entrance fee to the park. A guide is always present at the site and will be able to direct you to Ocean Atlas.

We will be docking at Nassau from noon - 8 pm only. Does the transportation with the packages include a departure point near the cruise pier? And is from 1 pm till 5 pm (when I believe the park closes) enough time to do both the snorkeling and the heritage tour? Thanks.
Clifton H
Nassau, New Providence Island2 contributions
Hello Lisa....thank you for your inquiry...we would love to host you!
Unfortunately, the scheduled pickup time from the cruise port is 9:45 am- 10:00 am and the general departure from the park is between 2:00 pm- 3:00 pm. However, there are always taxi cabs for hire just outside of the port. The park closes at 4:30 pm and the last tour times for both tours are 2:30 pm, so this will only allow for one tour. Each tour is approximately 45 mins - 1 hour. We humbly apologize for the inconvenience. Perhaps on your next visit to Nassau, you will have the opportunity to do the other tour. :)

Buses in Nassau are very few and very unreliable. Your best option is to take a taxi (which is not the cheapest) or book directly with Clifton by calling or emailing them, and book a package which includes round trip transportation. It’s really great value for money.

Me and my boyfriend are planning a trip their in November and I was wondering if there are any issues with sharks or shark attacks?

Hello lyn m,
There are no concerns or issues about sharks attacks! Snorkeling beach is the open ocean so many marine animals will be seen.

How far is this from where the cruise ships dock? Can you just take a walking tour, and what is the cost? Can you view the sculptures if you don’t go snorkeling? Thank you.

It’s quite far. If you take a taxi, depending on the traffic, might be a good 30 min drive. Yes you can take a walk tour.
Do you have contact information for the tour company you used to visit and snorkel at Clifton Heritage Nat'l Park?
Thank you.

Hello, I am looking to go snorkling to see the underwater sculptures. How far out are they? Do you need a boat or can I just swim out to view them from the beach?
You can swim out to the statue. It’s a few hundred yards out. Recommend using a life jacket, the tide was a little strong and it was more physically straining to swim back to shore.

Hello BATB500!
Unfortunately, our snorkel beach is a No Mooring", "No Anchor" and "No Docking" zone. However, please feel free to do so at Johnston or Jaws Beach free of charge. When were you planning on visiting?
How long are the snorkel tours through Clifton National Park? If you get transportation through them from the hotels, when do they start shuttling people back?

Ok the first snorkeling was about 1 hour.....you walk and swim out to the underwater sculptures and reefs ( this is the same site the snorkel tour comes to via boat for a shorter time... when we came in from this we took a short van ride to site #2 where we had the delicious picnic lunch and time to jump in the water again.......to swim unless you had your own snorkel equipment.....we all wanted more time here.... I should have spent less time talking at the table! we went by van back to the heritage site of the plantation for about an hour tour by foot.....and then they drove us back to town.....the difficulty is this area is at the "rich" end of the island where public busses do not run frequently if at all...... you might be able to convince the driver to drop you off for extra money, but you have no way of knowing...or finding one...to bring you back to town.....these are gated, high security all around.....Johnny Depp etc don't take buses! Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and take the tour offered and this was one of them......they were all so delightful and friendly...... just don't sit too long eating...jump into the gorgeous beach......
