- BobWellfleet, Massachusetts105 contributionsNice Beach But Too Much Conch WasteWe drove to this beach and parked alongside Long Bay Beach Road, just north of a villa called Sea La Vie. We were one of several families who parked along the road, which is not posted against parking, and we had no trouble. This is a public beach between a number of resorts and villas north and south. The resorts to the north rent kiteboards, jet skis and so forth, but these activities aren't close enough to be a bother. There were also horse riders, evidently also a paid activity from up the beach. The water was warm, the sand soft, and we had a good time. There was no loud music and no annoying vendors. The negatives about this beach are the nearby large piles of discarded conch shells, apparently from nearby food services. The shells are scattered in the water, too. These shells are old, weathered, and lack color, so have no souvenir value. There is the usual packaging waste and drink containers common at other TCI beaches. So, four stars and not five.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 10, 2024

Again, many people dressed in g strings and you see more of someone’s lady bits then your own but oh well!! You can see the ghost freighter from shore. Would recommend this over sopadilla.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 28, 2024
- Charlotte F2 contributionsBeautiful calm watersCame back to this beach twice - calm, clear water with no waves, soft white sand, was perfect for just floating and sitting on the beach! You might see some folks learning to kite board and other fun water sports. Be careful of the jet skis, they run pretty close to the shore.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 29, 2024
- Shannon M2 contributionsEast was fun with lots of action and west was quiet and calm.Spent an afternoon at the far east? end where the kids tried kiteboards and also rented a jet ski. Kiteboarding was arranged prior and jet ski was a last minute choice. You are able to ride all the way out to the ship wreck from here and there was also a vendor selling fruity drinks in coconuts. Later that week we walked down to the far other end which was close to our condo. It was quiet in the evening and we built sand castles and found conch shells to take home. There were several to choose from since this part of the beach sees less traffic. My son also had a sting ray swim up along side him as he was wading in the water here.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 18, 2024
- Cathy KMidlothian, Virginia372 contributionsGorgeous views and waterwe visited here & found a big pine tree to set our chairs under. There is not much shade unless you have an umbrella. The water was clear & clean, we were able to swim without waves or undertow. We snorkeled, but didn't see any fish. It was great just walking in the gorgeous water. We enjoyed watching the windsurfers and wake boarders, kite surfers do their thing !!! Everyone around was friendly and having fun, while respecting one another. It was peaceful & we felt like staying in that spot all day.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 18, 2024

The beach is awesome, soft sand. The water was an amazing blue and only waist deep for a long ways out. We accessed it from the east end of Long Bay Beach Drive. There's a small dirt/gravel loop right before a gated property and paver blocks that lead you right to the beach. There are no amenities here, which usually isn't a bad thing, but there's also no shade (why I give it a 4). We lasted about 2 1/2 - 3 hours with long sleeve sun guards and wide brimmed hats but we were sizzling. Glad we went but without shade we won't be back.

This beach goes on and on. It is a narrow beach with an amazing amount of conch shells on the beach. It is a kite surfers paradise as it is a shallow bay. The sand is like icing sugar. Lots of villas dot the beach but since it is such a long beach you have plenty of places to relax. You can rent her skis and kit surfing lessons.

Great beach with very few visitors, especially as you go towards the South Bend. Tide was out in the afternoon during our week stay and you could nearly walk to the shipwreck site. Enjoyed watching the kite surfers.

I honestly don’t understand why the beach gets so much rave reviews… Unless you’re a kite surfer. The beach is narrow, covered in seaweed and trash. By far the least picturesque beach on the island. And if you are not staying at one of the properties on the beach there was no real place to sit out.
Literally go to any other beach. It’s also not easy to find the beach access.... wish I hadn’t bothered.

Spent many hours watching the kite surfers and hubby had a few lessons too. It’s like a mill pound without the wind, and really breezy when there is. Horses ride into the sea which is amazing to watch too! Take a picnic......you will be so chilled

Long Bay is directly across the island from Grace Bay. The Hartling Group has made a massive investment with the opening of The Shore Club in 2017. I recommend Sunday Brunch there by the way. The key to Long Way is knowing it can be windy. It is a well known destination for kite surfers. It is also the home of massive estates and an on slot of new construction. The other thing to consider is that it can get grass on the shore certain times of the year. Not to despair, just check when you are going. We love this beach and plan to ride horses with Provo Ponies next trip.

Long Bay Beach is a spectacular beach. Accessing it can be a little confusing and you definitely need to drive there. There are a few different spots to access the beach, but they can be tricky to find.
If you want to visit the beach for sunrise you cannot beat this location because it faces it directly. If you go to Grace Bay, your back will be to the water during sunrise and the buildings etc will all obstruct your view of the sunrise sky. On the flip side, the northern beaches like Grace Bay and Smith's Reef etc are all better for sunsets as they face the sunset sky directly.
The first path we accessed the beach through was on the intersection of Long Bay Drive and Curlew Drive. Right across the street from the Google Maps tag for "Casita Sirena" you will find a long narrow sandy path to the beach where we were met with an incredible sunrise view and not another soul in sight. Beautiful water and waves. Nice breeze. If you take a walk down the beach you will be in awe at the homes people have built along this beach. It's hard to believe some of them are just one home and not a resort.
The second place we accessed the beach is right by Kite Provo. You simply take Leeward Highway to The Shore Club. Make the right off Leeward Highway and then make another right when you can't go straight anymore. THEN IMMEDIATELY make the only left turn you can, drive a bit further, and you will see a little sign that says BEACH ACCESS. This is an amazing place to park your car. Short walk to the beach. And it will lead you directly to this really cool sign I found online prior to going. It has a ton of cities all around the world. I believe people put up signs themselves I'm not sure but I attached a photo :) enjoy!

Are chair rentals available any where on Long Bay Beach?

Looking for an inexpensive cook to prepare good home cooked island meals while on vacay for 3 people staying in Long bay beach this weekend. Don’t need fancy set up just food. Lol! Please let me know if anyone has information.

Hi, Janine. What would you like to know about this attraction? Hello, I noticed you travel dates, I have a few questions about Long Bay Beach. We plan to travel next April. How was the water? I heard it is very shallow. Is it too shallow to swim in? and the kite surfers....do they have their own areas to surf? Do they get in the way of enjoying a swim in the ocean?
Thanks for your help.

We were there in early March and it was only surfers in the water. It is a huge beach, so you will find a space for swimming. The other side is much prettier though

were can I go to find starfish? we haven't seen any yet but everyone keeps saying they are everywhere...is it better to go at the crack of dawn??

I agree! Turtle Cove was the best place. People were very respectful of them and just admired them, which is the way it should be.
"Take only photographs, leave only footprints." I read this quote a long time ago, and it is my travel mantra!

You haven't let me know where you are coming from, but since most people stay in the Grace Bay area, I will give you directions from there!
Take Leeward Highway eastbound, and turn right on Long Bay Highway. After a few minutes drive, you will come to Curlew Drive. Turn left. After a few minutes, you will come to Long Bay road. Turn right, and you will see various places where you can see the beach, with parking on the side of the road. There is no formal parking space or lot, just wherever.
Please note that this is not a swimming beach, but it is a really great place to see the kite surfers in action.
Enjoy!

We're thinking of staying in a vacation rental on Long Bay. Will be traveling with 4 year old and 6 year old. Is the beach safe for little ones? Some people say it's too windy and rough. We're never been to TC.
Written May 27, 2016
I would not advise swimming at Long Beach. The beach is windswept and the water is rough, not to mention the kite surfers travelling at a high rate of speed. It is not a beach-goer's beach. The only kids that were there had hard bottomed water shoes on and played in the sand while their parents wind surfed.
The Long Bay area is ruggedly beautiful but it will be better for you to go into Grace Bay, Taylor Bay or Sapodilla Bay for your beach days. We enjoyed all 3! Grace Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and is not to be missed, but Taylor Bay and Sapodilla Bay are shallow, calm, much less populated and stunning in their own right. Bring a beach blanket and a sun umbrella, as there is no shade. Most airlines will let you bring the sun umbrella onboard as free-of-charge cabin luggage or you can purchase one at one of the local beach shops for about $40 USD.
Enjoy your vacation! :)

Is it usually very windy on Long Bay Beach? We heard it is fine for wind surfing, but not so pleasant sitting on the beach.

I'm sorry that no one has answered your question! If you have already travelled, I hope you enjoyed yourself. If you have not, then I hope I can be of assistance!
Long Bay Beach is not for swimming or beach days. It is ruggedly beautiful, but in a windswept and a powerful force of nature kind of way. The kite surfers travel far too fast and the water is far to rough to swim here. More enjoyable places would be Grace Bay, Sapodilla Bay or Taylor Bay. We enjoyed our time at all 3, but bring a beach blanket and sun umbrella, as there is no shade. Sun umbrellas are available for purchase at many stores in the area for about $40 USD, or most airlines will let you bring one on free of charge as cabin baggage.
Enjoy!
