About
Dark View Falls are two spectacular waterfalls, one above the other, cascading down high cliff faces and plunging into natural pools. The waterfalls flow all year from a tributary of the Richmond River. A natural Bamboo bridge spans the tumbling river, luring you to the two majestic falls. Facilities at the site includes restrooms, gazebo, viewing platform and changing rooms.

We took a taxi to visit these waterfalls and a few other places. Unfortunately the gates were closed when we arrived. We could still get in by walking around the fence. The falls were beautiful and we changed to swimsuits in the changing room for a refreshing shower. Some maintenance staff turned up and said that it was still ok to visit. Consider double-checking if they are open before going.

To walk from the town, Chateubelair to Dark View Falls is a comfortable hike. You walk partly on concrete, dirt road, a bamboo bridge and stairs. We used 40 minutes getting up there with a baby in a stroller. You really get to see the rainforrest, which is beautiful. There are two waterfalls, one above the other. Both are rather small but nice and with lovely surroundings.

We booked with Fraser Taxi & Tours, we were picked up from our cruise ship & Fraser got us there before everyone else! We had the place to ourselves. There are 2 waterfalls and an infinity pool. Your in the middle of a beautiful rainforest, with fresh fruit, parrots, it’s just magical! We had a little swim and then moved on to explore the rest of the island. Amazing place!

Have visited twice, a decade apart. It’s wonderful. Beautiful views and fab spots to paddle beneath waterfalls. The first at the bottom and the second up at the top. Well worth the hike to the top spot.

We've been on St Vincent for 4 weeks now and Dark View falls were definately a highlight. As aforementioned, these are "proper" waterfalls of around 10m each, unlike the ones at Wallilabou. There are two accessible falls, one on top of the other. I'm told there is a third on top of that, but building steps up to that one was too difficult. The first fall is easy to get to by all. The water is shallow and they have built a concrete bathing pool around it. Although you can use a bamboo bridge, if you walk a little further there is a "real" bridge made of wood and metal, so don't worry. There are changing rooms and toilets and vendors when it is busy.

The second set of falls are more difficult to reach. There are many large and uneven steps to climb to see the falls, so the unfit/elderly should give it a miss. There is no path to get to underneath the falling water, therefore you have to scramble over 20m or so of jagged slippery rocks. The splash pool underneath the top falls is deeper, and therefore is better for bathing, but those who are unsure of their abilities should only view the second falls and not take a dip - I struggled to get over the rocks and I'm a fit 21 year old female. Apart from the stubbed toes, the whole thing was brilliant and we really enjoyed our time there!

Dark view falls is a very popular tourist destination in St Vincent, for good reason. It is easily accessible by road, although it is way up the leeward highway just outside of Fitz Hughes. Although a little rugged, it is easily traversed by almost every tourist. There are two falls. in the upper one you can swim in the pool. Bring your bathing suit. There are stairs up to the higher falls, and you will want to swim there. I go there every year. It's really quite a beautiful place. A lot of tourists go there. I was watching the European yatch tourists struggling with their footing this year, feeling that I was much more like a local, with far superior abilities, and then slipped on a river rock, and fell to ground, my pride hurt more than anything else. Some rocks are very slippery, but I've never seen anyone slip and fall like I did. It's a beautiful place that is well worth the visit. It is much easier to access if you stay at Richmond Vale Academy, in which case it's a 20 minute walk. I highly recommend Richmond Vale Academy. From there there is so much wilderness to explore, and you need to be there if you are hiking up the volcano. That is a very long hike, difficult to do if you are starting from Kingstown.

We visited this as part of a trip with Fraser Tours and Taxis. Walk over a Bamboo Bridge which is quite sturdy. If you go remember your swimwear and towel.

We visited the falls on a Saturday. We took a local mini bus from Kingstown (the bus terminal opposite the hardware store - ask locals for directions, they’re all very friendly!). It took around 1.5 hours and was 6EC per person. The vans can get crowded but it’s a great way to immerse yourself into local culture. The trip to the falls was very hilly - got some great views! We asked the conductor if he was going to dark view falls before getting on, and he took us all the way. He dropped us off at the road to the entrance (buses don’t usually drop you off here unless you ask, but instead drop you off at the local town). It was a 10 min walk up the road (was absolutely lovely through lush forest). It was 5EC for entrance - we had to cross a bamboo bridge (best in bare feet if you have flip flops) which was lovely. You then reach the first waterfall which has a natural pool for swimming and a viewing deck. This waterfall can get busy, so we went up to the second waterfall which required climbing a lot of steps and then scrambling some rocks. I was wearing pump shoes and had to take them off as I found it easier to grip with my feet. I would definitely recommend trainers for this part, and only attempt it if you are able to climb a few rocks. The waterfall at the top was definitely worth it - much quieter and much nicer. There were only 3 or 4 other visitors there, who left after 10 minutes. Absolute paradise.

If you are there do not miss going to dark Falls. The scenery is beautiful the waterfall is spectacular. If you are a little adventurous there is a second waterfall that you can climb to. The infinity pool is made by Nature which makes it even better. I went there with a local and it was even better because he knew exactly what we wanted without the crowded tour. Don't miss this if you are in Saint Vincent
