We had a great time on Owen Island. We took a trip on a small boat from Little Cayman, the trip was a few minutes. Enjoyable.

Take a kayak and picnic basket. Fly rod is recommended. Beautiful and quiet, nice spot to swim as well. A Caribbean jewel.

We rented kayaks at Souther Cross and went over. There was no one there, so we had the whole island to ourselves. There is some trash there, but they are working on cleaning it up.

I kayaked to Owen Island every day at 6:10 a.m. to greet the sunrise. It is a beautiful little island. It's fun to take a lunch and enjoy time on it's shores too.

That's all the "I" superlatives I got, and they all fit. Dream beach experience. And the swim there and back was marvelous too. No need for kayaks, especially on a calm day.

Great place to go if you want to be alone. The kayak out was relatively easy. Wear sunscreen as there is no shade.

We rented kayaks at Southern Cross, loaded up the snorkeling gear and paddled to Owen Island. It's a short paddle and not too hard. If you are a reasonably strong swimmer I would suggest putting on the fins and swimming out there. I think the kayak rental at Southern Cross is a little pricey. The water is shallow and warm and there is a bit to see including lots of conch!

A short kayak or paddle board away from Blossom Village, this beautiful little island is bliss for a picnic, snorkel or fishing. Pretty pink sand flats on one side with a craggy, rocky side with interesting rock pools. Ankle deep, bathtub hot, sand flats teeming with little shoals of fish as well as mangroves, coral gardens, anemones, turtle grass, conchs, box fish, mullet, bonefish, juvenile nurse shark - I could go on and on. Make sure you take a trip out to the island if you stay in Little Cayman.

My wife swam over every morning from Beach Resort. I kayaked a few times.
It's a small private patch of sand that not only hosts a good number of short term human visitors, Owen Island accumulates much of our trash. If you go, bring a small garbage bag from the hotel room to hull back some not so biodegradable debris.
We walked around the island (don't do this in bare feet) and found a variety of plants, shell fish and other marine life. Inland side is a sandy beach with a very gradual increase in depth. Sea side is overgrown, rocky and part of the reef which makes it cool to explore with foot wear.
The right time of day you could catch some fish in the shallows.

We rented a couple of kayaks from S.C. and had a pic-nick lunch. The snorkeling was a little tough the day we went due to surf but still pretty good. Watch for turtles, nurse sharks, & barracuda.
