- natster6Peru, Illinois76 contributionsBeautiful sand, water... And Starfish! We drove to the point. There are public restrooms, nice sand, clear blue water. We saw about a dozen big starfish. We chose a low cruise ship day to do this, so there were a couple of boats there but it was not crazy. It cleared out about 3pm. We had already stopped and spent a couple hours at Rum Beach Club, but the sand and water were much nicer here. I didn't snorkel here, but there were other people doing it. We combined this outing with a tour at the Crystal Caves on our way back. That was very enjoyable too!Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 15, 2024
- Cheri DavisColorado456 contributionsA starfish of a time!We had rented a car because at Morritts Resort, it was completely worth it! We drove to this point, there was a parking area, rinse off station, bathrooms to change. We took our snorkel gear for a short walk to the beach. You can walk quite a ways or not, large stretch of beach area and starfish all over. We brought snorkel gear to see the large upside down jellyfish that do not sting to hold. The small clear ones do sting, we did get stong by them once while snorkeling. It's not bad, but it did hurt some, beware with small children in the water here. It's worth the trip and experience!!Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten February 18, 2024
- tampabaymom5Tampa, Florida153 contributionsAVOID PICKING UP THE STARFISHThis is a beautiful stop. Unfortunately many boat tours make a pit stop here too so everyone can wade around and touch the poor starfish and a selfie. SOME take it out of the water. ITS A Living THING! If you go here please respect that. Big boats on private tours come here. The parking area has a bathroom and freshwater shower.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 27, 2024
- Lstuckmo114 contributionsSo worth it even without a tour!We didn’t have a tour booked since it was new years but decided to drive there anyway. It was easy to park, walk about 3-5 minutes, step into the water for starfish. The water was calm, and even with all the boat tours, we were still able to have a private moment with starfish. Highly recommend- so fun!Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 9, 2024
- Fae DLewes, Delaware88 contributionsColorful starfishThis is a fun way to spend some time. There is a parking lot at the point. As you walk along the water's edge or wade into the water, you can see the starfish laying on the bottom. When we were there, we saw several individual ones. Tours anchor just off the point.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 21, 2024
- Jon M38 contributionsVery fun way to spend a lazy relaxing day!Way off the beaten path with nice and calm water for snorkeling and swimming. Tons of starfish to see, the beaches were nice for relaxing. There are still some secluded spots to get away from the tour boats that drop by to visit.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 23, 2024
- @acoupleflightsOntario, Canada327 contributionsClear, turquoise waterThe beach was beautiful. We didn’t see a lot of starfish but were able to see and hold a few. You cannot remove them from the water whatsoever. There are lots of tours that stop here so best to go early in the morning. There are public washrooms in the parking area.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 22, 2024
- Godspeed T7 contributionsWe saw giant starfish! So fun! You do need to look for them so take your snorkel gear. There was ample parking and restrooms. Just know there is a bit of a walk to the point. You will see chickens and lizards as you walk over. We saw quite a bunch of starfish but you have to swim around to do so and go past the little jetty's as well. There will be some in the grass/seaweed. It was a lot of fun! Going in the morning or lunchtime is best, but do look out for boat traffic.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 20, 2024
- cuinthemoonYork, Pennsylvania862 contributionsStarfish were plenty todayThis was our 3rd time to the point. We saw the most ever The water was pretty clear this time also. Other times it's been green. If you go by boat they tend to dock at the point, but if you walk down the right side of the point, you will se so many starfish. Be cardio we also saw jellyfish. Bathroom at the parking lot.Visited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten November 2, 2024
- Maggie FOssining, New York72 contributionsRecommend stopping here especially if you have a car.I really did not know what to expect. So many previous reviewers seemed disappointed. We went in sneakers and changed into our water shoes when we parked. Definitely Recommend the use of water shoes. We walked further down the beach, away from the parking lot, before entering the water. I found a starfish in the first section I ventured into. In water that was less than knee deep!. Then we moved into the next section and started seeing them everywhere. We saw at least 15 large starfish without getting our knees wet. Tip: Be careful about the wooded pier sections. My friend got a splinter when she braced against it. These were the largest starfish I have ever seen. Much bigger than what I expected. I wear size 8 1/2 shoes and took a picture of my foot next to the Starfish so you can see the sizes of it. It was a lot of fun. There is a restroom right in the parking lot, that was appreciated. No charge for a great stop after hitting the QE II Botanical Garden. On way back to 7 mile beach, be sure to stop at Sweet Dreams Cayman Boutique Bakery on Borden Rd (next to Bubbles and the Cigar store).Visited December 2024Traveled with friendsWritten December 4, 2024

We drive up here although there are numerous boat trips which include a stop off here. Is incredible to see so many starfish in one area, just remember they should never be removed from the water - you will suffocate them. They’re also solidarity animals so shouldn’t be moved to close together. The actual bay is quite small and I guess would get crowded in busy times. We were probably here for about an hour which was plenty of time

It's an unusual experience. There are not a LOT of starfishes like in the pictures, maybe 10 in total. A lot of people and boats come in non-stop with tourists. We were there during the Easter holidays and most of the beach was packed with campers. It was hard to find a space. It got me to wonder if they put the starfish there on purpose just for the tourists.

I love Starfish point and enjoyed one of my two visits in the last fortnight BUT the island authorities need to start limiting the number of boats and jet ski's coming in to the Point. The first visit there revealed a huge flotilla of boats, which caused issues with stirring up the water and waves far too much and spoiled the enjoyment of this wonderful coast line. On the second visit I noted that there were far fewer starfish and pipe fish to be found than this time last year - I guess that is down to the increased usage of the area by boats and jet skis - please do something about it!

This was disappointing and a little sad. We only saw a couple of these precious starfish. We arrived early, around 8am, and shortly after a couple of boats pulled up. One of the tour guides literally ran through the shallow waters grabbing starfish to take back to the people on their tour. We overheard a local saying the starfish are disappearing from this area because the boat tours are scaring them away.

Awful! Lots and lots of boats with way too much people here. Although this is a great place to see starfish, especially with kids, the mass of tourist treating the animals horrible made me flee from here in 10 minutes.
People should not pick up starfish or even worse play with them as if they are toys. The animals get stressed by doing so. The amount of starfish has dramatically been reduced at this point due to the tourist treating them badly. It made me sick watching people eat pizza in the water amongst the starfish and people almost stepping on the animals. Please treat starfish with respect and don’t touch them!

Meh. If you've never held or seen a starfish, this tour is for you. Fortunately, starfish are pretty docile, and don't seem to mind being handled by tourists. I think they're well trained.
I was hoping to see the trained starfish, the one's that perform the choreographed dance routine. But it was Saturday, so I guess they had the day off.
This beach is easily accessible by car.

I have traveled here in the past. It has obviously become overtaken with tourists. You are not allowed to touch the star fish. Once you take them out of the water they will die. The amount of ignorant self indulged individuals that have absolutely no self awareness beyond themselves is unconscionable. They believe due to the fact they walked off a tacky tour ship onto the island for a few hours they can stomp all over and do what they want!!! This area needs to be patrolled and protected from individuals like these.

This is the perfect spot. Water is shallow and calm enough for toddlers.
My son loved this beach. It was his favorite.
Starfish there aren't very many now. Our tour guide mentioned thousands died because of tourists which is depressing. So if you go remember starfish cannot breath out of water and "drown" as quickly az we would under water out of water. So if you pick them up leave them under the water please!

I think if I had younger children, I would've gotten more out of this. It's a pretty and shallow area where starfish gather. We were with a top-notch guide (George's Watersports) who taught us how to safeguard the sea life. But larger boats come in with LOADS of people and it's over whelmed then.

What day(s) would be best to visit Starfish Point and Rum Point? We are trying to avoid the cruise ships if possible.
Written July 4, 2019
Cruise ships are generally at all the tourist spots Monday thru Thurs., 9-3 and occasionally on Fridays. I would visit Starfish Point on a weekend and have the beach to yourself:)

Hello everyone does anyone know How far Star Fish Point is from the cruise port? And would a taxi driver drive you there and wait for you? Thank you.
Written May 5, 2018
The island bus runs to that side of island also and runs often just make sure you take the route through mid island not all way round use Frank Sound rd it is shortest route. Go early to make it back to cruise ship return time. go with intention of walking into water star fish are not always right in the shallows no shoes needed soft bottom area in water

Do you have to book a tour to go to star fish point? I will have an 8 month old with me so I am not interested in jet ski's etc.
Written May 22, 2017
No- it is a public beach and you just walk into knee deep water; soft sandy bottom. It is just past Rum Point at the very tip.

Hello, glad to hear Starfish point was worth the trip! I was wondering if you could tell me how you got there? I'm staying on seven mile beach and have no plans to rent a car. Do you know if cabs go there and how much that would cost?

It is just past Rum Point, before Kaibo Beach. Easy to miss, if you ask someone at Rum Point they gave us great directions. Enjoy!
