The Moule a chique peninsula offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Anse de Sables coastline and looks out over both the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean sea. The lighthouse at the southernmost tip of the island, also known as the Vieux Fort Lighthouse is 730 ft above sea level and is the 2nd highest lighthouse in the world.

The road is quite good for most of the way with wide bends but the paving decays the further up you drive.

If you follow the main road all the way to the top, you’ll eventually get to the signal antennas and satellite dishes. You’ll be amazed by the view!

The road is at its worst on the last leg passing an old compound with derelict buildings. There are no houses on that stretch and it’s quite desolate so my advice would be not to go alone.
The entrance to the lighthouse is just beneath the peak. So once you leave the signal station, the entrance will be on your right hand side coming back down the hill. It is the only road that branches off, so you can’t miss it.

We were quite lucky when we drove up that the lighthouse keeper was just arriving for his shift and so very kindly opened the gate and permitted us to drive onto the compound. We’re not sure whether you can simply open the gate anytime and walk or drive up but it’s worth a try.

Once parked, it’s a short walk up to the actual lighthouse. Built in 1912, it has been standing now for more than 100 years but sadly it no longer works. You’ll have great photo ops standing in the tall grasses just down the hill on the other side of the lighthouse.

You have fabulous 360 degree views from the lighthouse….to the northeast and east, you can see Maria islands, the airport and runway, Coconut Bay to Savannes bay in the distance and to the northwest, you can see the Port, some of Vieux fort and Black bay in the distance.

Be careful walking around however as there are holes and uneven ground and a trip and fall up there could mean a nasty fall! The wind was so strong, we thought we were going to be blown off the land!

Overall, there are no better or more breathtaking views in St. Lucia so it is well worth the drive to experience it.

The walk up is so exhilarating with gorgeous views along the way. At the top are among the most breathtaking views I have ever seen in my life. Well worth a visit if you visit St. Lucia.

This place is really good for watching the sunset in the west. Its in more of a residential area with houses around so resorts are about a five minute drive. Its also a good place to do plane spotting at the regional George Charles Airport.

I followed the advice of others and planned a stop here as we were between hotel checkout time and too early for our flight. I packed a picnic lunch and it was a very nice location, albeit quite windy and hot. The views were extraordinary.

As others have suggested, I would recommend driving up to the lighthouse if you have any extra time before your departing flight. The views truly are amazing - you can see the Pitons to the left and a beautiful vista of the coastline on the right. The lighthouse is ok - you can't enter it - but the views make it worth the 30 minute detour. One caution for anyone of small frame or with small children - it is extremely windy at the top. The wind was blowing me all around, and I weigh 115 lbs, so anyone smaller may struggle (I would actually caution against small children who could get blown down).

I worked at the Club Med St. Lucia (now the Coconut Bay Resort and Spa) in the summer of 1990 and I would take a handful of adventuresome guests on a sunrise run from the Club to the Cape Moule a Chique lighthouse once a week. It was a spectacular workout with beautiful views. Highly recommend it!

What a great view! It’s a bit of a drive to get up there but it’s worth it. You can hit it on the way from or to the airport. There is a portable radar installation up there. The top of the lighthouse has been removed and is on the ground. I understand it’s the second highest lighthouse and this part of the world.

Popped up here during our tour. You get some really good views of the island. You could see the airport and also our hotel in the distance.

If you're brave enough, if you get closer to the edge you can see cactuses that have this unusual red top to them that apparently you can only get on the cliffs here.

Make the drive up to the top. The view is amazing and worth the drive. You can see the east and west sides of the island...the Atlantic and Caribbean seas at the same time.

The owner where we were staying recommended that we drive up here and we are glad we did as it offered some nice views for little effort or time.
