Excellent, short hike with great views and interesting history
Was staying at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian just next door and wanted to hike the two small summits in the park. Paid the entry fee and explored the park. We were very happy to have done so. The hike was mildly strenuous but very short. Both hills had great views, and the fort had some plaques to teach us about the British military encampment. Worth the entry fee, although I'd recommend going in the morning to avoid the heat of the day

    Pace yourself here
If you have a hire car, drive tother wall.At least some mini vans and some tree shade is here.Nice walk around the ruins.Maybe a see thru cover for the well? Walked up to the peaks, but it was a struggle.Very hot, clear sky day,so was a sweat fest for 60 year olds.See...if we can do it...so can you. Pleasant sit down in the trees/shade just above the beach and drift off. Wear a decent trainer or boot on your feet, take plenty of water and if hot/sunny,just cover up. Take somewhere between 2-3 hrs here.

    Wonderful beaches and incredible history
Spent a good part of the day here learning about Ft Rodney. The interpretation center is not big but gives you a bit of history of the island. Pretty much all the barracks are in ruins. The real thrill is the hike to the fort and then up Satellite Peak. Holy cow, that was a work out. It’s not like hiking In Colorado where the air is clean and dry. It’s humid and sticky and 80 some degrees. Scrambling up rocks to climb to the peak. Brutal. Took a nice break at the top before heading down. Guess who went stray to the beach? Lovely private national park beaches. Pretty quiet as we are in fringe season. All in all a good experience but not for the faint of heart.

Not so much of a hike as expected!
We were concerned about ‘hiking’ in the heat as we are not ‘hikers’ or even avid walkers, from what we had read on the internet, however, this isn’t really a ‘hike’ as such. Yes it does go up hill and it is steep up to the ‘lookouts’ but there are concrete slopes and then a step ladder to Fort Rodney with a gassed slope heading up to signal head (then it is a rocky trail about half way up). We saw some people with young children one even with a push chair and they would have made it almost all the way. A wheel chair might be a struggle though! We took the slightly less travelled scene coastal route on the way up which was more of a challenge but still not too bad. The views are fabulous. Although not the clearest day we could just make out the shores of Martinique. The breeze was also very welcome. It was definitely worth the effort. Coming back down and then walking around the barracks and past the interpretation centre gave lovely views and breeze on the Atlantic side of the island. Lots of debris on the shore that was interesting. We didn’t stop at the beaches but they were beautiful. Interestingly although our looking online said 10 ECD for residents and 8USD for non residents when we’re got there it was 10USD each. Defo worth going to.

    Stunning!
Beautiful views of the surrounding area and Pigeon island itself. Definitely worth the trip, especially if you're staying at Sandals Grande as it's directly next door. It was 10$USD/pp to enter and well worth it! Not a long hike but it is steep in parts. However there are plenty of places to stop and catch a breath that double as photo pit stops.

    Wonderfully Clean
Extremely clean. There are four lots of restrooms on the island and Jennel (sorry if I have misspelled your name) was going round cleaning them every 15 minutes. For a fun and lively atmosphere go to the beach nearest the restaurant to see all sort of varieties of fish and mix with diverse people.

Countryside Drive & Beach Day Trip to Pigeon Island with Shore Excursion
We booked with Shore Excursion from the cruise ship port. The driver Alvin met us at the port with another couple. We left the pier and headed up to Morne Fortune, passing through Castries. When you reach Morne Fortune, nice view of the harbor and northern coast. Stop at the Howelton Estate. You have 2 hours to spend at Pigeon Island beach or explore the park. too bad it was a rainy day on and off. Not too bad for a half day tour.

Must put this on your to do list when visiting here when in St. Lucia
The views from atop Fort Rodney were breathtaking and the walk along a well maintained track was easy. The grounds are also well kept with whats left of the ruins to take awesome pics. Beach was quite good and the restaurant food at Jambe de bois was perfect, we had chicken roti and curried fish.

    Pigeon Island
What a great way to spend half a day in St Lucia. Lots of history and lovely walks around the island. Some lovely beaches to swim, sunbath and relax. Hike to fort and vantage point for your best views of Rodney Bay.

    Very nice, we really enjoyed.
Lovely beach and park with great beach shacks and vibes. The fort has a steep hike but lovely grounds with great views. The beach on the side of the shacks was amazing with soft sand and warm gentle waves surrounded by mountains and coconut trees and the sunset was spectacular! The shack food and drinks was 👌👌

Excellent visit. We took the Saluna Water Taxi from Result Beach and were really impressed. We booked at the 'office's on the beach and were driven over to Pigeon Island by Ricky who also collected us for the return trip exactly at the pre-arranged time. He dropped us back on Result Beach in front of our hotel ! The trip cost :15,IS collared per person return and only takes a few minutes.

On the 'island' we were met by a guide who directed us to the National Park office where we paid the 10 US dollar per person fee. We climbed up to the Fort which is via a steep track which has lots of free roots and ends in steep wooden steps up into the fort. Spectacular views all round. The major points of interest have illustrated signage giving some historical details. Don't miss the visitor centre which has some really interesting information and displays. The entrance fee is for the upkeep of the island and worthwhile. Wear suitable shoes for a rough track. Allow about 3 hours, maybe more of you want to climb both peaks.

We had a toasted panini and cocktailsin the Jambe De Bois restaurant - fresh and tasty, and very reasonable.

It just feels different , peaceful , calm and pleasant ...well worth the entrance fee with cheaper sun beds and parasol but the best bit is the climb up to the fort with great views of Martinique and then up to Signal Hill which for some in our party was a real challenge to do both in quick succession !! It gave you a real sense of history and the restaurant was great with beautiful Roti's , I had the vegetable one , the weight on the plate was truly huge ...but I ate every bit and one of our party had the lamb one and rated it as totally amazing ...also don't forget to go snorkelling from Pigeon Island side really good , loads of fish and we even saw lobster . A great day out and good value .

Had a great tour with Andy of A+ Tours. He picked us up at the cruise dock and gave us a lovely day at Pigeon Island. He really brought the history of the place to life as he walked us through the site. Afterwards he took us to a really quiet National Trust beach where we hired chairs for only $3 each. He also provided a selection of drinks. Unfortunately it was too rough to swim as there had been high winds and a strong current but we still enjoyed the place. Very peaceful and only a short distance from another beach with rows and rows of chairs - not to our taste.

An entrance fee for the park might or might not be reasonable yet it can’t be to visit the restaurant within sight of the gate. A brusque and unfriendly response at the park entrance put us off even bothering. So we missed the park too. Rude staff are not the answer to attracting tourists!

We spent a day at Pigeon Island and loved every minute of it. There are two hikes that you can do-one to the old fort which is a combination of dirt paths and steep stairs and a ladder at the final stage. Take your time-this is a vary doable hike. Just be sure to wear a hat and bring lots of water. The second hike takes you to Signal Hill. THis is a more challenging hike, with sections of rock that you need to manage. Not a lot of shade so be sure you are prepared. Great views at the top. On a clear day you can see Martinique. Great snorkeling at the beach. There is a small admission to the park and it is well worth it. You can reserve beach chaises and an umbrella when you enter for a few US dollars. The restaurant on the island (the one with the green tin roof, at the base of where the old fort hike starts is really good. We enjoyed the roti and baguette sandwiches and were not disappointed. We have heard that the seafood lasagna is outstanding. Great rum cocktails!

We were on a ship excursion from St Lucia to Pigeon Island National Bark. The road trip was very scenic and interesting. It is not an island by itself but had been. A few years back dcaswoayas construction that yea back d the Atlantic Ocean from the Lake in the park. The beach was beautiful and quiet. Beach chairs were provided. .There is an old fort on the top of the surrounding mountain. It is not a difficut trail and about 1/2 hours to climb. The tour guide went along with the hikers. There is a floating bar that goes from the beech to next door to the Sandals Island resort. It was an very enjoyable trip. There isa fee to enter the park, which was paid from the tour.
Referennce COPD-19, St Lucia had reported 17 confirmed cases

However cruise ships are not permitted to enter this island at the current time. Suggest checking with their local website and US State Dept for a status before you book any trip to this area. It would be a shame to not beable to go as it it a very interesting island, This was our 3rd trip and we always learned something new.

Enjoyed our visit. Not a huge amount to see or do but the (steep) climb up to the gun redoubt was certainly worth it to see the views. Spent a couple of hours on the beach which was a typical Caribbean beach so clean white sand and lovely blue water. Snorkeling was a big disappointment though as the water is very murky.
Good pub style eatery (Barnacles) that served some great food at very reasonable prices. Unfortunately at the time it was struggling to meet demand (only one chef) and they were turning customers away. Clearly liked by the locals as well and we would recommend it.

If you hike I recommend boots. The view from the top of the peak is great. Second only to the Pitons in my opinion.
After the hike rent a chair on the beach inside the park. Beach is split into two areas. The beach inside the park is less crowded and there's a nice little restaurant at the far end of beach from the entrance.

Four of us were lucky enough to get the opportunity to visit the Pigeon Island National Park when it was limited in entry in November 2020 for Covid19. Our resort was able to get us in and for a mere $10 USD per person, we were able to hike and tour some of the most incredible scenery I have every seen. Hiking up to Signal Peak is a challenging one (which we LOVE) but anyone with an ounce of height fear would not make it.

At the highest point, I attempted to take photos of the breathtaking views, but you cannot capture the intensity of it! It is really neat to see both the Atlantic and the Caribbean sides with the resorts in between.

The ruins throughout are really well labeled and the history is really interesting to learn about.

I cannot recommend this National Park enough as it was truly a highlight of our vacation!!

My husband and I checked out pigeon island last week and had a great little excursion day.
We stayed at the Royalton and took a $12US taxi ride and ended up walking back to the resort which took about 30 minutes. If you’re staying at the landings or sandals then you’re just down the road

It’s $10 Us per person for admission and $5 US for a guide book

Inside the park are two areas for hiking, the first peak is paved with a path still uphill so I recommend running shoes, signal peak is much more difficult and I recommend hiking shoes as I can see how easy it would be to twist your ankle coming down.

There’s a beautiful beach where you can rent chairs for the day if you’d like and two different restaurants, we went to the one closer to the beach and had some much needed pitons after hiking

Lots to see, little museum and old fort ruins.

We had a great day and would highly recommend checking it out
