Top 10 Beaches on Planet Earth
Jun 2021 • Family
Top 10 beaches on Planet Earth. Some very safe spots, some very dangerous when the waves are above 2ft. When the waves are calm it is absolutely stunning and perfect for all families. I learned to catch waves here when Inwas 4, have taught all my children since they were babies her as well. Close to all restaurants and hotels on the main drag. PUBLIC Beach with NO life guards. Know where you sre, do not be a bozo, naive tourist or intoxicated when navigating the water nor the city of San Juan in general. Enjoy it to the max, like everything else in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷❤️🔥🤘

Almost No restaurants on the beach, dangerous water.

The water was rough and the red flags were out when we were there early June, 2021. Escambron beach is safer and has shade.

Don’t swim in Puerto Rico
May 2021 • Couples
Glad I didn’t bring my 3 and 6 year old. My husband and I stayed at the Condada Vanderbilt and witnessed a young man drown in the rough water...there are no life guards ... no warming’s of rough waters . There was no one to help... no jet skis or rescue vehicles. A volunteer attempted to save him but was too late... then the volunteer had to hold onto the dead man’s body for 45 minutes before someone came to help retrieve the body from the water. It ruined our trip and left us with the bad memories we will never forget

Wavy tourist beach
May 2021
As one of the more touristy beaches in San Juan, the beach definitely shows it. Overall it is a gorgeous beach with beautiful, sparkling water, but the sand is crowded with others on vacation and swimming is not for the faint of heart. We were recommended to seek out lifeguards before entering the water because of recent riptides, but couldn't find any. The waves were rough and you could feel the undercurrent. Best not to venture out too far.

MY TEENAGERS NEARLY DROWNED HERE!!
Apr 2021
I had no idea how dangerous this beach is. I traveled there last weekend and my teenagers, who are athletic and good swimmers, both got caught in a rip current after only 10 minutes in the water, and both of them had to get pulled to safety as I watched in complete horror. A volunteer lifeguard saved my daughter's life. The only lifeguards are volunteers because no one will pay for them. My son was rescued by another tourist, who hopped over the walkway railing and rushed down the rocks to grab my son's. I have visited this beach before and had NO IDEA that there was any danger. With the crowded beach and tons of people in the water, There was no signage to alert of any danger, nor did I see the tattered little red flag until I approached the security guard (to call 911) at the back entrance to La Concha. The guard was great about calling the medics and talking me through the state my son was in (dehydrated, lethargic, etc.) and it was clear this guy had seen this type of thing on a regular basis. Later that day I read in the PR news that two other people had drowned in that exact same spot, 6 six days earlier. WHY AREN"T TOURISTS INFORMED OF THESE DANGERS??

Drownings BEWARE
Feb 2021 • Friends
Please be careful swimming at this beach. 5 people have drowned in the last month. And I almost drowned today. It was the grace of God that saved me and another young gentleman who tried to save me. There are no signs that state danger of rip currents, especially next to the rocks.

Warm turquoise waters but dangerous.

Staying at La Concha we enjoyed Condado Beach which is a public beach which is used by guests at La Concha and the Vanderbilt. This year they offered lounge chairs and umbrellas to rent for the day to the public. This is a beautiful beach in Condado with nearby restaurants to enjoy a take out lunch at the beach. As mentioned previously the surf here is dangerous. During our stay we witnessed a man saved by a surfer who got in over his head real quick. If not for that surfer he would have been another statistic. If you swim in front of the sea shell of La Concha the surf is a little quieter.

Please remember to tip the beach guys. They work hard to provide a great service!

Great place for rolling waves, watching kite surfers and lots or good restaurants
Jan 2021
This is a great area- kind of a Miami Beach atmosphere without too much glitz. Some sections of the beach are flat and sandy, others rocky and not good for getting in. Nice around most of the bigger hotels. Good restaurants all around, coffee places and a few shops. Some nice parks too , some pocket parks, others larger.

BEWARE...DO RESEARCH
Nov 2020 • Solo
In memory of my friend German Leyva. He drowned at this beach 11-12-20. He was only 29 and loved traveling.
Making him the 5th person to drown since September 2020. Please do your research about rip currents and tides. No matter what your swimming skills are : no one is an exception here. Tourist beware!! We often are so much into having fun and maybe feeling secure when there's people around BUT that's not the case.
... my dear friend : you sure loved life and lived it well.

Beautiful beach but DO NOT SWIM HERE!!!!
Nov 2020
Stayed at the La Concha Hotel on Condado beach November 7th - 9th and unfortunately witnessed 2 people drown in the water only 50 ft from the shoreline. This is a beautiful beach but very dangerous water. After witnessing the drownings with no lifeguards on duty, it was later discovered that this is a "No Swim Beach". Further research found that people drown on this beach every week. The lifeguards at the La Concha pool made little attempt to save the 2 victims probably in fear of losing their own lives because of the frequency of drownings.

I have been body surfing for 40 years and would not go in this water because of the strong currents and rip tides. Please do not enter the water at this beach, more than likely you will not survive. The man that we witnessed drowning was laying on the beach with a sheet covering him for approximately 5 hours before he was taken away. No first responders for nearly an hour after the incident began. The real hero of the day was a good samaritan with a surfboard that paddled out to recover the bodies. He brought both of the bodies to shore in an incredible and long effort.
