I reviewed La Factoría, should I review this place, too?
Actually, I was looking for Hijos de Borinquen and found it! Loved this place! Drinks were delicious and the service was excellent. It’s my understanding that the bar has changed names?ownership? Anyway, you can check out the other review if you want. I’m just doing my part to keep this old bar name alive!

Tasting authentic pina colada was on our "to try in PR" and we went by the rule: stay away from touristy places, choose an authentic dive bar and ask for the toughest looking bartender to mix you a pina colada from scratch... didn't even imagine that making pina colada takes a mixologist and an alchemist in one... Vinny is the best... he took his time, tested every batch and I must say - you have not tried a pina colada until you tried pina colada in this place... The BEST doesn't even describe it well

If you’re in the Viejo San Juan and you’re looking a place to have a good time do yourself a favor and DON’T GO to this place. While our April 2019 cruise we stopped in San Juan, a group of 6 of us made the mistake to visit this place hoping to enjoy the world famous Puerto Rican warmth and happiness, well nothing was further from the truth. The place was empty when we walked in, it was understandable because it was early, since the place was nice and the music was decent we decided to stay and spent our money there, my group and I tried to animate the atmosphere by laughing, singing and talking loud, all the normal things one does while in a bar anywhere in the world, none of us were drunk or disrespectful to ANYONE, by the way I don’t drink!!! after my 2nd bottled water and drinks for the rest of my party we were advised by the bartender he couldn’t serve us anymore because we were too loud, What in the world are they thinking!!! MAYBE THIS IS A LIBRARY, a CHURCH or HOSPITAL and they don’t tell their customers? Because last time I checked in my many trips you go to a bar to talk loud sing and laugh. Needless to say I DON’T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANY ONE, also the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting, backed up cover with piss and vomit. Left there and went to Senor Frog were treated with respect and had a great time.

This is a terrific dive bar. Great drinks, an interesting cross-section of locals and tourists, and impeccable taste in music (from Tom Waits to Celia Cruz to The Decemberists. I always make it a stop in OSJ.

I thought the bar was very nice but I wasn’t overly impressed. I think the prices were a little high compared to the other places as well. Friendly service though.

Saw other reviews so I thought we should check it out. We got there around 6:30pm and the main bar was empty. The bartender (forgot his name) was excellent and the drinks were even better. Me both had Lavender Mules and they were truly crafted drinks. By 7pm, the place started to get busy. We watched the bartender craft drink after drink. He created each drink and took such pride in how he made each one. This guy was truly an artist when it came to making drinks.
We stayed in the main bar and never ventured to the other ones. We'll save that for next time! We also had some food. Empanadas and Mediterranean Pizza. Both were fantastic.
Can't wait to come back! This is really a place you have to check you.

It would look like an eclectic vintage place with an ambiance of its own but it rubs elbows with an abandoned place. Dust, smells and out of place could be part of their definition. The bartenders would hardly pay attention to you and needless is to say that the price for a mediocre mojito was way too much. We ordered one regular and one of coconut and I guess thet are still looking for the palm tree cause they served it wrong. Mint leaves were only freshly taken out of the fridge as well as the mix. Debut y despedida....

We searched el Viejo San Juan for this bar based on a friends recommendation and I'm glad we did. It's was a great start to a vacation. Don't miss it, it's off the beaten path. You think you are in Brooklyn, NY. The vibe is friendly, fun, latin music, dancing, great bar and bartenders and food if you get hungry. Diversified clientele who want to listen to music, dance and enjoy the atmosphere.
It was a Monday but it was full. The front is a bar, go through the wooden door and you will find another bar with a small stage for the band that will keep you going. Began the evening with cocktails @ the bar with a lavender mule and ended dancing the night away to a live Latin band - Roberto Roena. We had a blast. Enjoy!

We visited Old San Juan two years in a row, booked the same top shelf cocktail tour two years in a row with Spoon Food tours and ended up at this hip bar both times! "La Factoria". Caroline, our tour guide remembered that we had a good time at this spot and so we returned. You could pick any drink off the Menu board there. Some of us chose "De La Mejor" a drink made with Barilito Rum, House Horchata, Cointreau, and Lime. Others chose the Lavender Mule made with vodka, house ginger tea, lavender syrup, lemon and lime. This bar has a great atmosphere!
