Be clear about what you are going to get before you visit, especially if you are paying for a tour package. At the time of our visit the house itself was closed down and emptied of furniture and fittings, with no evidence of imminent restoration. The gardens are nice and you can imagine yourself sitting outside and enjoying the view. But it's just a view and you can get these in many places along the coast. We paid JMD $5000 (£25 or $32) for two non-resident visitors (the residents paid nil) to the 'tour guide'. Not as bad as it could have been but an expensive view nonetheless. If you do decide to go in agree the 'tour/entry fee' price first. Shown an empty house and allowed to walk around the garden. You can buy a drink for cash.

No way this is not a scam . We paid about $17 American entrance fee and the tour was more of someone saying a few words and kind of wandering off. The road there was insanely rocky and filled with potholes and to show up and what you are paying for is pictures of a view that’s it. The main historic house closed because of “Covid” .? The only reason people are there terrible experience and something tells me that “been here for 31 years” guide is just pocketing the money for the opportunity for a photo opp, that’s it.

The road leading up to the house was very steep and winding and full of potholes. There was little to see of the house, though the guide appeared knowledgeable, apparently COVID meant the building fell into disrepair. The view from the garden was stunning, but that was really all there is to recommend a visit

We went just after Hurricane Sandy and although evidence of the devastation, this did little to dampen the Jamaican "business as usual spirit". Firefly is a good day out, superb location, very atmospheric, peaceful and as others have noted, not in any way commercialised, none of the usual gift shops at the exit!. We paid $10 US each for the entrance fee and tour guide, who was very knowledgeable, we didn't feel rushed or supervised and she allowed us all the time we needed to wander around and take pictures. Very easy to feel you have been transported back in time to another era, paintings, photos and effects all randomly placed and not behind display cabinets-nice touch. We negotiated a reasonable price with a local taxi driver as could not find an organized tour. Take the scenic route through villages, long drive full of potholes but friendly locals, even got invited into a small village church, I suppose a donation was expected but nevertheless!! Suggest take a picnic to have in the grounds on the hillside overlooking the bay.

I love Firefly house. The property is huge and great for families, friends and romantics for picnics or just to hang out. I had the opportunity of getting married onsite and everything was superb, the property manager was a delight to work with and everything was flawless.
This place is definitely worth a visit. Located in St Mary Jamaica.

There are few places in the world that are unspoilt. Firefly is one of them. It remains a wonderful reminder of Noel Coward and his love for Jamaica. And you can see why. The modest house was built to Coward's instructions but makes the most of the stunning views. There are paintings and personal effects that make this an interesting place to visit.
To get there you'll drive on some roads that really need urgent repair - but don't let that put you off. It's well worth the drive.

We were in the Ochos Rios area in March and had picked the Firefly as one of the more interesting things to see around the area, purely based on my research. I had no clue who Noel Coward was before I learned about the Firefly. We hired a taxi (recommended by our hotel) to take us to the place and had combined our drive up to the Firefly with a lunch trip to the Goldeneye in Orocabessa. The journey made for a nice day out outside our resort.

The drive up to the Firefly was long and bumpy. The rainy season had just ended in March. There were large potholes on the road. We had to take an alternative and much longer route to get to the place because the main road was closed as it was in a bad state of repair. It appears that very little is being done to fix the roads. We were the only visitors when we got there, so it was quite nice. The house was not of much interest to me as I had no personal interest in Noel Coward. He was a man of many talents, but painting was not one of them! The view from the property was indeed spectacular but I'm not sure it's worth the long, rough drive. They need to fix the roads and make the place more accessible.

Firefly is amazing with views out of this world, truly inspirational. I can understand why Noel Coward built his house in this location.
Looking around it feels like Noel has just left with original items still in place. Old books, his paintings, 2 pianos and the dining table laid out as it was on the day of The Queen Mother's visit in the 60's. No roped off areas, wander anywhere..
Looking at the pictures it's amazing to think that many of his guests at Firefly are still alive today.
It was useful having a guide who was very knowledgeable having worked here for 19 years!
Shame the swimming pool is covered over.
Anyone with a love of theatre will love Firefly with it's attendant Hollywood glamour.

What a great place. This was recommended to us while in Ocho Rios and it was well worth the 30-40 minute drive from Ochie past Fleming's Goldeneye to wind up the hills to Firefly.

The estate has absurdly good views back across the bay and along the Jamaican coast. As well as Noel Coward's house, it was interesting to learn of the property's history dating back to Captain Morgan's days.

An historic place in a magic setting.

Your visit will be well worth the rather pot-holed drive up the long minor road. A great job done in restoring , without making it commercial.

It would have been even better if there was some of his music/songs playing, and if the pianos were better maintained.
