These days Shaw Park is off the beaten track, and seems to be little visited, except perhaps when there is a cruise ship in. It's a real shame - these gardens are quite special. None of your formal planting but fascinating tropical plants and trees, fabulous landscaping around the waterfalls and hints of the faded grandeur of the hotel around... More

Shaw Park Gardens are the gardens of former hotel and are now a park/botanic garden. There are many trees, flowering shrubs and plants. A feast of colour. Our guide, Ronald Hawthorne was excellent. A former gardener at the park with a great knowledge of the plants and history of the gardens. The waterfall is stunning. Not as spectacular as Dunns... More

Shaw Park Botanical Garden is a beautiful well maintained horticultural garden. Stunning flowers and plants that grow to be so much bigger than in northern climates. Looks like what the island would have looked like before humans found it. Guides are charming and very knowledgeable, gave us an enjoyable tour and went slow enough for me to manage the steps....
