Greeted with a great big smile by an informative and interested guide who clearly knew the house and its history well. A beautiful house full of many original artifacts including ancient music players and instruments. The current resident owners have invested their love and attention...More

Visited the Greenwood Great House and had a great history lesson and tour by our guide Patricia. The home of the Barratts Family and the tour guide had good knowledge of the history of the house. History was not the best of time but the...More

Well-curated tour. They had many pieces and artifacts and allowed pictures of the inside as well as the outside. From the upper balcony you have such a great view of the shoreline you can see the curve of the Earth. It's incredible! I'd love to...More

The house is probably best known for being built by the Barrett family, who in turn is best known in America for its daughter, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, but like most other groups and associations in history, there's a lot more to the story. Without telling...More

Kind of weird out of the way spot. We went on a very nice tour given by Patricia...a lot of strange old family connected items..relatives of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's,so it was kind of cool.

This was the place to go to get away from the crowds and to learn about the history of Jamaica. Our taxi driver didn't know where it was, which we thought was a good sign if we wanted to avoid the typical tourist areas. This...More

Fascinating look into the colonial past of Jamaica. The owners have kept the place looking much like it did in the 18th Century. Great Museum with interesting artefacts including very old; but still working barrel and plate organs. Plus a great view from the balcony.

Feb 2018 Greenwood Great House was included with the cruise. Worth the drive up the mountain. Wonderful 180 degree vista from the veranda. You must see the oldest upright crank phonograph player and all the brass "records". The owners were present while the tours went...More

Thanks for your interest in touring the house. Taxi fares vary -- would recommend getting in touch with JUTA for contact information for a taxi driver. There are no taxis on site so if you hire a driver, they would have to... More
