Great hot chocolate
Feb 2020
Turn right from the ship and walk through the tunnel then right to go down to the harbour. Lovely old buildings.
Go to Chocolate Museum (near National Museum) to see chocolate being made. Delicious hot chocolate drink. Good Wi-fi

House of Chocolate - yes!
Mar 2020 • Couples
While many have expressed disappointment that this isn’t a ‘museum ‘ we felt it lived up to its name ‘House of Chocolate’.

From your first step in, you can explore the history of cacao - how it is grown, harvested and processed. You can grind cacao beans, see how they make cocoa butter and chocolate bars and view some lovely local artwork on the walls.

After that, you can taste chocolate and enjoy handmade chocolate truffles, bakery items or ice cream.

Not hungry? There is a great assortment of items if you need a little something to take home - we were happy to find soursop leaves for tea, cacao nibs and bars.

We will stop again on our next visit to Grenada!

A MUST FOR CHOCOHOLICS
Feb 2020
A must for chocoholics I guess but didn't particularly grasp me. Lots of exhibits on the local cocoa industry and a chance to buy various specialities. Hidden a little, it’s worth popping in but it doesn’t take long to get round.

Worth a stop for sure. Airconditioned, smells so good inside, places to sit comfortably. Serves delicious ice cream. Love the nutmeg one! Many things to buy inside.

More of a shop than museum
Mar 2020 • Couples
Not really a museum. Small cafe area. Gifts for sale and chocolate. Information boards and member of staff to explain production process (but he was busy talking to another visitor when we were there). Disappointing.

I'd say the primary function of the House of Chocolate, is to sell you some. You can either buy bars of the stuff, with varying cocoa content or buy the powder, for a nice hot choc when you return home. If you can't wait that long, then there is a seated area, where you can have a hot choc or get stuck in to a bar. If you know nothing about chocolate whatsoever and want to learn, there is an small exhibition area with a few exhibits, which explains where cocoa comes from. No matter what anyone says, this is not a museum. Best thing for me, was the free wifi. Coming off a cruise ship with extortionate internet rates, this was a godsend. Next best thing, the free samples. who doesn't like a free piece of choccy?
If you just go in to have a look around and don't buy anything or use wifi, 10 minutes would be stretching it. If you stop for wifi and a beverage, allow 30 minutes.
Remember, it's ostensibly a shop, so it doesn't cost you to go in.
If you are on your way from the fort down to the horseshoe harbour, then you may as well pop you head in. You have nothing to lose.

Boring
Feb 2020 • Friends
Well I could not wait to take me friends here, what a disappointment. Basically a chocolate shop with some little introduction to where cocoa is grown on different regions, otherwise it's chocolate shop with lots of merchandise for sale. Everything was so overpriced, we left and did not buy a bar of chocolate. Btw, the same chocolate brands were cheaper at duty free. Save your time.

Museum?
Feb 2020 • Couples
This is an air conditioned store that sells chocolate. There may be some information about the history of the confection, but make no mistake..this is not a museum.

Good ears though!

Feb 2020 • Couples
House of chocolate was a very pleasant surprise. Small museum of Grenadan chocolate making, stacks of different
chocolate to examine and buy. Also had a nice small selection of clothing items which my wife found interesting and made some purchases. The cafe serve snacks and of course superb hot chocolate drinks and ice creams..really stunning flavours. Do try their delicacies. Nice visit highly recommended.
