Overview
More
More than a museum, ChocoMuseo is also an artisanal chocolate factory where we make our own chocolate from the beans to the bars with selected Dominican organic cacao. The visit of the chocolate factory and museum is totally free and we offer a free tour to teach you about the history of cacao and chocolate, the cacao tree in the nature and how cacao is transformed into chocolate. It is also a place where our visitors can participate into chocolate workshops where they have the possibility to elaborate their own chocolate from the cacao beans. You can choose the type of the workshop to participate. The workshop "FROM COCOA BEAN TO CHOCOLATE BAR" lasts 2 hours. Participant will find how to prepare handmade chocolate and learn all the steps from the harvest of the cacao in a plantation to the obtention of a chocolate bar. From the cacao beans you will roast them, peel them, and grind them into a paste. This cacao paste is used to prepare the first known cacao drink (invented by the Mayas), the traditional chocolate. In the end, from refined chocolate you will prepare your own chocolate bonbons with topping on your taste that you can take back home. Mini-workshop "UNIQUE CHOCOLATE BONBONS", 35 minutes. During this mini-workshop you will prepare the set of super chocolate bonbons using white, black and milk chocolate. Different molds and different toppings will help to create a set of unique handmade organic chocolate bonbons. Book the time of your workshop by phone or via our web-site.

Great tour and educational opportunity. My Grandson loved the hands on experience of roasting, peeling, crushing and making his own candy bars. This is a do not miss for kids. Great staff and the entire excursion was positive. Chocolate is the best!!!!

Stopped by here first as part of a private tour to Higuey.....learning a bit about the process of chocolate making was interesting and the free samples were tasty, but the actual products for sale were quite expensive, especially compared to similar local products for sale...More

Not a museum or at least from what we saw. It was just a chocolate shop that let you taste the different chocolates and liquids. It was all very good and we bought some different things. Location is not very attractive, the back patio area...More

They gave us samples to try, but we got home and the chocolate bars and caramel, didn't taste very good. For $7 for one candy bar and $5 for the caramel it is not worth it. I would have rather saved my money and just...More

This tour is definitely a shopping tour. Being able to make your own chocolate was a bonus. I also bought Chocolate tea to bring home to the USA.
